Theres a saying, if you buy cheap, expect to pay twice. I purchased the rip-off fooker pedals for much cheaper, they are a complete stolen copy of the race face design just cheaper quality. they immediately stripped my crank when I tried to put them in. i had to buy a new crank which wasnt available as a single piece so I had to buy a whole new crankset PLUS purchase new pedals. i tried to save money and ended up spending twice as much as I would have if I had just bought race face from the start.

I loved the color and its what my LBS told me to get. I grabbed a pair and within the first mile of riding with them, this happened (Photo). My pedal drug on a rock and ripped two of the pins out. The pedals look nice but cant hold up to a pretty normal thing in mountain biking...rocks. I reached out to Raceface and I didnt expect them to replace them but I hoped they would. They didnt, and acted like the pins ripping out like that was expected if you hit a rock. Raceface describes these things as tough...they arent

Cant justify spending more than buying these anymore and wont buy copys from everyone else so I recommend these. Lightweight and super durable at a great price. whats not to love!

After clipping into muy mountain bike pedals for years, I made the switch to flat pedals when I got a new bike 2 years ago. When I purchased another bike this year, I decided not to bother with different pedals as these are tried and true. I have no complaints. My feet stay on and they dont gouge up my shins.

Great grip and light weight. After a couple hundred miles over a month or two I started hearing some crunching in the bearing. When on a remote trail the pedal fell off the spindle and the bearing came out in pieces. Not a durable pedal at all. To be fair, I did have a couple of rock strikes, but nothing terrible. Update: the second set of Chesters failed after 40 miles and zero rock strikes, pedal body again stripped off the spindle as if there was nothing holding it on. I don’t understand. Basically there is a single tiny bearing holding the pedal on the shaft, and all the lateral force is directed through that bearing.

Horrible grip. This is mainly due to the fact that the pedals is essential designed to be convex at the axle. many generic brand flat pedals nowadays with metal pins are much grippier and are even manufactured in the same factories (the quality of materials/axles will be as good). Maybe when Chesters were a brand new design years and years ago they were relatively good, but in 2022 the design is outdated and quite honestly, dangerous. Pedal slips when mountain biking can cause serious injury.

Worth the extra $20, over ones that look identical. You get what you pay for with the Chester. THIS UPGRADE WILL HAVE A VERY HIGH IMPACT! ...flat pedals are ideal for mountain bikes, dont consider clips - of any kind.

These have been around and all the good reviews have been written. Go read those first. My review is just to report that these lived up to what I expected. Yeah, theres cheaper knock-offs, but the price-delta isnt life-changing money, so why not buy the name-brand I figure. Or, maybe RF is also a knock-off of some much more exotic/expensive pedal I dont know about b/c I wont spend more than these pedals cost? Hmmm. At any rate, youre getting what you pay for here... solid pedals that to a mere XCer like myself are bomb-proof in all likelihood. If youre a sendy-dude, maybe these arent tough-enough?.. no idea. Docked a single-star for weight if only b/c Im 100% sure lighter pedals exist. IMHO, not really the point of pedals like these, but hey... there it is. I expect these pedals could be the last ones I buy for years to come so long as I dont destroy one by accident in some kind of freak accident that is the result of accidentally accidenting when I shouldve been ... some-new-conjugation-indicating-not-accident-goes-hereing. Actuating. Articulating. Aglrabphabulating. Whatever.
