I wanted a hardwire kit so I could free up my cigarette lighter outlet, this does not do that and is not what is described.

This kit ended up working out perfect for me. I was hardwiring a Uniden R8 into a 2009 Mercedes C Class, and while I normally use a fuse box in the cabin, I couldnt find any switched fuses nearby. Instead, I ran along the headliner to the trunk and used the rear fuse box. The wire length ended up being perfect for what I needed, and the fuse selection was appreciated!

Great kit. It comes with a lengthy cord, several style fuse taps and several 5 amp fuses. Excellent kit and more importantly excellently priced when compared to kits offered by Uniden and other brands.

I installed this in my E90 yesterday. There are a few such kits out there but this one gives you every common fuse connection type and the most cable length and its still well priced. It also includes a 5A fuse of every size, some replacement inline fuses, a few zip-ties, and even a trim pry tool! For easier cable routing by just tucking it behind some panels / molding without prying on anything, if you have any problem with the cable walking itself out over time, wrap some double-sided tape around it every 6 inches and tuck it back in. Go ahead and ground it first, but dont plug it in til the rest of its installed - dont risk screwing up and popping the one fuse they gave you. My only complaint with this kit is it could use just a few detailed instructions. Obviously it cant tell you how to route it in your vehicle or which fuse slot you should put it in. But it should tell you about the add-a-circuit system they have here: Now it helps if you have a meter on hand to verify the connections. Having done that I found the reason it has two fuse sockets on the connector is because the one closer to the fins is for an existing fuse, and simply lets that fuse sit in the circuit same as before, while tapping one fin to supply voltage to the radar detector through the 5A fuse you add. This way your RD is on its own (fused) circuit, and you dont need an empty fuse socket (although thats still ideal). Just be sure to find a fuse which isnt energized til key-ON! Or accessory if you want. Its your battery, do what you want. I would recommend this kit. I cant believe how long I used the coily cigarette-lighter cable.
