Rock Band 3 Wireless Keyboard for Wii and WiiU

Nothing outstanding, but it feels solid and works just fine. It seems to disconnect from my Wii every now and again but its a quick fix to hit the button again and it reconnects instantly.

I dont use this for Rock Band but rather use it as a very inexpensive MIDI controller for my portable MIDI-enabled equipment. Ive been moving away from computers lately and back to hardware instruments. I recently purchased a Korg Volca Keys and while playing it with the ribbon keyboard is fun, Im much more dextrous on a keyboard. I wanted something that was battery powered and had the standard 5 pin DIN MIDI port as well. Having seen reviews for this controller on various synth forums I purchased this and it works great. The keys play well though the layout of some of the controls arent always easy to get to. You can use the ribbon controller for pitch bend but you have to hold down a button on the side of the ribbon to activate it, which seems counter-intuitive. Perhaps the button helps to extend battery life but I find it awkward to use. Given the price, its still a phenomenal bargain.

Works great with the Wii. Best part is that it doesnt require a wii remote to be plugged in to connect to the game.

This is a good addition to the Rock Band series of games. Kids were not quite as compelled with the keyboard as they were with the guitars and drums. Fun though.

The keyboard has a good quality feel to it. The MIDI features are useful, I suppose, but I doubt Ill ever use them.

After purchasing Rock Band 3 and seeing the the promotional videos about this keyboard, I was really excited to purchase the keyboard to go with my game. I got my keyboard this evening and played the practice mode for about 30 minutes. During that 30 minutes, the video in the game stopped but the audio continued. About 10 seconds later, the video resumed. I shrugged it off as a one time glitch. Then when I started playing some more, the video froze again and after about 3 minutes I had no other option that to turn off the Wii and restart. After that, I put the keyboard back in the box and pointed my browser to the amazon online return store to get my shipping label to send this back for a refund. Something else that was annoying about this controller is the you couldnt use it until you were in the game. So you have to get another Wii remote out to start up the game, then once the game is launched, you can join using the keyboard. The instructions that came with the keyboard were very weak too. They basically told you how to put the batteries in, hook on the shoulder strap and sync the device (via a USB dongle that has to remain plugged into the back of your Wii while using this controller).

You can connect this to a MAC with an special App and Rock Live, for real!!!!
