My son is using this more as a midi controller for iPad than for Rock Band. It works fine for both! Only drawback Id the lack of an octave shift function, but there may be one hidden yet - hell find it if there is. It seems to be built comparable to some of the lower-priced Akai or Alesis controllers.

After purchasing Rock Band 3 and seeing the the promotional videos about this keyboard, I was really excited to purchase the keyboard to go with my game. I got my keyboard this evening and played the practice mode for about 30 minutes. During that 30 minutes, the video in the game stopped but the audio continued. About 10 seconds later, the video resumed. I shrugged it off as a one time glitch. Then when I started playing some more, the video froze again and after about 3 minutes I had no other option that to turn off the Wii and restart. After that, I put the keyboard back in the box and pointed my browser to the amazon online return store to get my shipping label to send this back for a refund. Something else that was annoying about this controller is the you couldnt use it until you were in the game. So you have to get another Wii remote out to start up the game, then once the game is launched, you can join using the keyboard. The instructions that came with the keyboard were very weak too. They basically told you how to put the batteries in, hook on the shoulder strap and sync the device (via a USB dongle that has to remain plugged into the back of your Wii while using this controller).

My daughters and I got this because we love Rock Band and wanted something different. If you play it like the guitars it isnt that hard because you only have the samr colored keys. But, if you want to master this thing it will be a real challenge. Only downside is you cant have a bass guitar and lead guitar together with this. The Wii only allows a total of 4 peripherals at any one time. Overall it is fun to have in your band.

This game is fun to play but the music selection is limited unless you go online and buy more. Just to get all the equipment is costly let alone buying more music. It is also hard to get the WII set up online unless you have cable online access. The good thing about this accessory is you can play keyboard, bass or guitar.

Tons of fun and doubles as a guitar on many of the songs. The kids are fighting for their turn on this product!

My teenage daughter sings in an audition require in high school and reads music well. She loves that she can really learn to play the instrument. It doesnt seem like a little kids toy.

I didnt buy this to use it as a game controller. I got it to use with my laptop as a midi controller. I found some software online that allowed me to connect it with the included adapter, so I didnt even have to have a midi to USB cable. It works great! And now I can make music on my laptop. Definitely a solid, good quality, piece of hardware.
