The tl;dr If you dont mind the layout, its an excellent board. A good buy for a gamer, a kid, or someone who likes to tinker. RGB: 5/5. Layout: 4/5. Build quality: 5/5. Nerd stuff: 5/5 The RGB: Any good gamer knows RGB improves your gaming performance by at least 7%. The backlight quality is high and there are a decent number of options available through the pre-programed keyboard options. The RoyaleAxe Driver is hard to find, only available to download from a website in Chinese and is actually not bad. It unlocks many more options, including adding custom function keys and custom RGB colors. It does ask for lots of network permissions, which is sus. For an RGB customization software, its fine. Nothing to write home about, but plenty to satisfy any RGB needs. The layout: Personally, Im not a fan of 68% layouts, and while this one isnt exactly a standard 68%, its close enough. Im old enough that I was being a curmudgeon trying a 68% because I want the function row, etc. However, upon using this keyboard, Im sold. Its very minimal, but I dont actually miss the function keys. I may be a 60%/68% user now. The two issues I have: the non-standard layout means keycaps are hard to find. Its sort of a 68%, but the mini backspace key is unusual, so youll have to improvise. Which leads to the mini backspace key. The keyboard controls (mac vs windows and connection type) take up a lot of the space the backspace key would normally take up, so this key is far too small. The build quality: I was extremely concerned about the build quality of this keyboard and I must say, Im impressed. It has a significantly higher build quality than keyboards twice its price (much better than the ASUS ROG Strix Flare Animate its replacing). There is no deck flex and the hot swappable switches are held in place well. The nerd stuff: The sound of the included switches and keycaps is nice. The Gateron Yellow are designed for a unique sound, and they have a good one. The included switches are 45G linear switches, so think Cherry MX Red as an equivalent. Gateron makes great switches, so no worries about longevity there. The switches are hot swappable! The included tools to remove the keycaps and switches are not great, but they get the job done. But any Cherry style switch can be swapped in to suit your personal preference. Since the included switches are really good, Im probably just going to leave them for now. Connectivity is abundant. You can use a USB-C cable, the included 2.4G adapter or Bluetooth. All your bases are covered depending on if youre going for convenience or minimum latency.

I absolutely love this keyboard. Its got matte like finishing. The keys are soft and have a perfect sound. Low pitch key hits. The keys are customizable online with the software including lighting colors. It can be wired or wireless. I cant wait to change out the key caps down the line!

Everything about this keyboard is amazing! My only downside would be the small backspace button, it takes some getting used to. Overall very happy with this product.

First of all - the color is stunning and a whole vibe. Secondly, I LOVE THIS KEYBOARD. I seldomly get this excited over anything but its totally worth every penny. Its a little heavy compared to my other keyboards but I appreciate that. The keyboard has a Bluetooth function that worked seamlessly! Its rare anything I own with Bluetooth doesnt have some type of issue. The keys on this keyboard click incredibly pleasantly and smoothly - both for feeling and hearing. I had to adjust a bit because its a smaller keyboard but I really enjoy the clicking and the way it feels when I type. Its definitely not a loud mechanical one so if youre looking for that this isnt the one for you. I think if Id order it again Id get the bigger size!

This is a cool keyboard! It has different rainbow light settings and is adaptable for Mac or windows. It isn’t a loud click which I like. It was very well packaged. The keys are super comfortable and have a nice texture. This keyboard is also not light, it is quite heavy!

Theres a lot to love about this little guy. Out of the box it has some of the best sounding stabilizers. It appears they have actually put some lube on the stabs and theyre not perfect but its much better than what you would see from other large Mechanical Keyboard manufacturers. They even added a dampener under the space bar to keep the board quiet. Battery life also seems decent. I was able to use it with the lights on full brightness for about 8-9 hours. The switches are standard gateron yellows that Im already very familiar with and do like, decently smooth and quiet out of the box.

I am going to use this in my bedroom desk with my laptop dock and Steam Deck. I love a mechanical keyboard and this Royalaxe X looks great. It is important to note that this is a compact product where the function keys and number keys double together. For programming, I can adapt without issue. But for gaming, your mileage may vary. The many methods of connection are a strong selling point. In particular, this is a Bluetooth keyboard. I tested connect to my Android tablet and my steam deck... works great. Ive also tested it with the wifi dongle and a direct USB connection. All work as designed and needed. Connectivity aside, this is a very well built product. The keys are just the right clickiness and the board is sturdy with some weight. The RGB lighting is helpful in lower light use, and also gives visual feedback. I really think this will be good for me to use when traveling with laptops, as I find coding on even larger laptops to be a hunched over affair. It is very compact, so fits nicely in my laptop case as an accessory. It is a solid product that I think would fit the need for a travel keyboard better than most. For coding, it gives me all the feedback I have come to love. The lack of dedicated function keys should be considered by the prospective buyer, but I found the use of the board to be just what I wanted.

Ive yet to see another mechanical keyboard showing off such high quality keycaps, a COMPACT full key layout, and RGB at this price point. The keys feel smooth and responsive. The lighting doesnt bleed through like it would on cheaper boards. The layout is perfect for work and gaming. Just...the perfect package. The color scheme for the purple and cyan keyset didnt seem like itd be my cup of tea, but after a day of two it grew on me, and I ended up falling in love shortly after that. I cant say it enough. This price point is INSANE for the features and quality that this keyboard brings to the table. I recommend it highly and this is definitely going to be my work keyboard from now on.
