Safety 1st Small Object Choking Tester

Save yourself some money and just use the toilet paper role method. A 4 year old boy in Australia just choked to death on a ball that was 1.5 inches and that ball would not fit in this. I feel this is much smaller than it should be. We go by the toilet paper role because really anything under 2 inches is chokeable to children under 5 since their throat is 1.5 inches. His tragic death brought much awareness to what size toys are actually chokeable. No toy is worth it.

Great to use to test what is considered a choking hazard for babies and small children.

I purchased this to use at our child care center. It is amazing how many items we had that were just a bit too small, a lifesaver for families as well.

I purchased this to check my 17 month olds Playmobil, Lego Duplo, and Learning Resources play food sets. The item is solid plastic and has brief instructions printed on the side. We tested about 100 different items that day. It held up just fine. As for its accuracy, we havent had any accidents so far, and obviously use this tester with discretion and common sense. It would be better if the tester came with more detailed instructions on identifying choking hazards, like whether longer objects that fit within the diameter of the tube are considered choking hazards. Generally speaking, this is a pretty awesome tool to have around the house with kids under 3.

Things a lot smaller than expected stick out of this (per instructions). It must be right...but its difficult to believe. We still tossed the smallest things that passed but were able to save several things that would have failed the toilet paper tube test.

Loved the idea but realized common sense would work better than using this product. Waste of money. Just compare everything to a golf ball.

Does what it says it does. Works great, helps us have some peace of mind and is a great visual to show our older kids when they leave toys out.

Gets the job done!
