After a lot of personal testing with large multi gig files Ive found that this drive tends to stop working after a bit. The problem is its too fast for itself, it generates too much heat and shuts down mid transfer. Im assuming its heat because it becomes a bit warm to the touch.

Having lost data like most people due to failed external hard drives, I decided to go to a solid state hard drive that is more robust. This product is not cheap. But, when you consider that for $350 you are able to keep from replacing 5 x $100 failed drives, it makes sense economically. But, another main factor in my decision was the read/write speed that is about 10X faster than my previous drives. Solid state has no read arm trying to find info on a spinning disk. No moving parts! Worth every penny!

Using this as my primary boot drive on my 2015 27 iMac. The internal fusion drive was failing (already!) so I just loaded the OS on this SSD and use the internal drive as a backup only. My ex-GF has a 2018 iMac and her drive was also failing (worse than mine) so I put one of these on her computer too. She is so happy to get rid of that damn beach ball. We miss you, Steve.

It was time to replace the old large clunky external drive with my photos on it. I should have done this ages ago, this little thing is perfect. 1TB model on a MacBook Pro. Even on my oldest MacBook, a 2012 model, the thing gets 400+ M/s and formatted as APFS no problem. I didnt try the software or hardware encryption.

I am a gamer with my own rig that unfortunately only has 256 GB of an SSD (all I could afford at the time). Needed the upgrade, Im a big fan of Samsung products, and this works perfectly for downloading all the games I wanted on an SSD. Big fan of this product and would greatly recommend it.
