> 3 dayI am having bad luck with this set of Flash drives. I purchased a set of 5 SanDisk 16GB Ultra USB 3.0 flash drives and so far 2 have failed me. I have a 2010 Macbook Pro (USB 2.0) that I connected the drives and copied files to. On 2 separate occasions I copied files to these drives and then ejected them. When I tried to connect them back to my laptop to verify the files, they failed to mount to my computer. I now have 2 pieces that will not mount to my macbook pro or my iMac. I havent tried them on any other computers. 2 out of 5 drives from this set have failed, 2 I gave to clients with recorded audio files (they worked when I handed them over to client) and the last one I still have and it is currently working. Its a mystery so I will avoid these next time.

> 3 dayFrom doing research, this is a common problem with this size and type of sandisk drive. Drive detects error and makes itself read only to prevent user from continuing to use drive and having drive fail with additional data. Source: Sandisk Support forum.

> 3 dayVery satisfied with these. Have been using Scan Disc for a few years but this is is a very good price for 5. We have been paying 9 to 11 dollars for one. Very satisfied customer.

15-04-2025Read speeds very fast at 138mb/s. But their write speeds, while starting over 25mb/s quickly slow to 12, then 10 then less. One of the better ones that wrote initially at over 12mb/s after a couple tests with h2testw.exe ver. 1.4, now tests at under 4 mb/s.

Greater than one weekOf course, the SanDisk Ultra flash drive can be used like any other USB key to very easily transfer and store data using a simple copy/cut and paste process. However, if you want to encrypt the USB key, you must first download the SanDisk SecureAccess software from Western Digitals website, then copy it from your computers download folder and paste it into the USB key directory. I couldnt find this crucial step anywhere in the instruction manual or the quick start manual (which also must be downloaded from the website). So, I wasted a lot of time on the weekend trying to figure out how to encrypt the USB key before ultimately contacting Western Digitals support personnel via their live chat when they were open again during the workweek. So, three dings on Ease of Use because of the very poor instructions for encrypting the flash drive.
