It takes the guess work out of miter cuts. Im remodeling an older home and very few of the corners are square so this tool will make them look good.

For anyone that uses a compound miter saw, the Starrett Protractor is a must have tool. It quickly measures all angles and you are able to transfer the reading directly to your saw setting. It eliminates guessing and waste. This same tool was available online through Sears for a significantly higher price than Amazon.

Worth the cost to get saves time and wasted saw cuts to get nice finish joints

I called Starrett and they were helpful, and since I live locally they are trying to let me just exchange it out through them without sending it back and waiting, but that wouldnt help most internet shoppers. It is almost a degree and a half off. Single cut says 0 degrees, miter says 46 and change. My rudimentary math says thats not quite right. Laser printed I would believe...engraved it is not.
