I purchased this radio to use on the 10 meter ham bands. I have been a license ham radio operator for 39 years using many kinds of ham radios from the HF bands all the way to UHF bands. The radio is priced a little on the high side but has many good solid features that I will use and some I wont. It is a bargain when you compare its price to the top brand ham radio HF transceivers that cover the 10 meter bands. It will work very well right out of the box. Dont mess with it as this will cause you problems in the future and void your warranty.

This radio is loud and get compliments all the time. People ask what kind of radio Im talking on quite a bit. Then say how great it sounds clearer than talking on the phone. I had a Galaxy 99V prior to this one and it would drift all over on SSB but this one is rock solid. Tune it in and leave it. It never difts. Mutilated color display can be selected to match the interior of your mobile. And settings can be customized using a PC.

I have been the Stryker radio for several weeks in my vehicle and have been very impressed with the functionality and quality of the radio. The stock microphone is paired very well to the radio; however, you will achieve even better audio quality if a quality dynamic mic is used with the radio. I have received very good reports on the audio while using an Astatic 636L microphone with the radio ($60 at any Pilot or Loves truck stop). The radio is also paired with a Wilson 1000 magnet mount on my setup which is also an excellent mobile antenna. The radio has a large and effective heat sink (cooling fins) on the back of the radio that sticks out a bit...so be sure to check your mounting space / clearances before performing an install. Software to customize the radio is available for download at the Stryker website. The software allows customization of frequencies assigned to channels in each band as well as customization of roger beeps and radio operating parameters. (6) roger beeps may be programmed and individually assigned to individual channels. Especially nice is the ability to set operating ranges for voltage, max SWR, and max key down time...all of which serve to protect the (4) MOSFET output transistors from damage. Finally, there are few radios that look as SWEET as the Stryker SR-955HPC. There is a fairly large signal meter to the left of the face plate and the back-lighting on the face plate looks amazing...especially at night. There are several YouTube videos out there on this radio as well as other reviews, so check those out. Buy with confidence, this is a rock-solid transceiver and you wont be disappointed if you purchase one.

Very nice features. I really like the radio but the receive on it is like running a preamp. No matter where I go or antenna I run it shows 6 s units of noise. Your signal might be a 1 s unit but your coming in at 6 with the noise of course. Took it out of the mobile and Running it as my base now. Same scenario. Love the radio hate the receive.

Good radio. It will need a modification if you want cb channels. It is almost impossible to have an effective antenna for HF or CB on a snowmobile or similar vehicle. The radio should not be blamed for the poor performance in a less than ideal installation.
