As in all Errol Flynns movies, this actor shows his ebullience and wisdom in his acting roles which enhance the films authenticity and entertainment value. Like his predecessors in the 1950s-1960s era, Flynn continued to portray truthfulness and loyalty as the hero who believes in himself to further the cause of justice. The character of General Custer is well portrayed by Flynn who dwells into the dualistic nature of man - showing the strengths and weaknesses - courage, confidence and ingenuity as the great soldier versus - insecurity and helplessness - as the civilian citizen.

They Died With Their Boots On was one of the first really big films that saw Errol Flynn cast without Michael Curtiz in the Directors chair. The result was pure (if somewhat propagandist to say nothing of racist) magic.

This was the movie I grew up on as a kid...my favorite.......is it historically accurate. No. But you know, precious little is of Custer. Remember he peaked at age 25 in his military career and never really grew as a person. I suspect the depth played by Flynn far exceeds that of the real Custer. This movie also was released about the same time Pearl Harbor actually occurred. It is good, healthy, fun and entertainment, does not put Native Americans in a bad light......enjoy it. It is American History as we want it to be, and thats not always bad.

This is a good movie, however I thought I was buying the U.S.A. version but the packaging on the movie is in Korean(I think). The movie is in English though.

Great movie, one of the all time Errol Flynn/Olivia de Havilland classicss. Not accurate hitorically, but a classic nevertheless. Worth watching over & over again...
