> 3 dayI bought four of these Transcend 32 GB JetFlash 790 UB 3.1 flash drives to create bootable Windows 10 drives to install or upgrade computers to Windows 10. I had been using some old USB 2.0 flash drives. I use a program called Rufus to transfer the Windows 10 ISO to the flash drives. The first transfer I did seemed to go really fast so I decided to time them. I timed the transfer to the 2.0 drives and then to these 3.1 drives. The 2.0 drive took about 7 minutes and 30 seconds to transfer. The 3.1 drive that I timed with a stopwatch took about 3 minutes and 25 seconds which seemed slower than the first 3.1 drive I used. Theoretically, USB 3.1 should be about 20 times faster than 2.0 (3.0 is about ten times faster), so the transfer to the 3.1 drive seemed a lot slower than it should have been. Ill be setting up more drives when Win 10 build 2004 comes out, so Ill time the transfers again and see if it differs much. Overall, though, Im happy with these drives.

> 3 dayI am a fan of Transcend brand USB Flash Drives. As a matter of fact, every flash drive that I own is Transcend. I have never had one fail on me yet and I use all of them all the time. I put music on them for the car and movies to watch. I format and reload. Never have an issue. I like that they are retractable so I can put them in my bag with my laptop and dont have to worry about them getting broken. Great brand; I am very satisfied and will be purchasing more. > 3 dayIm a retired (O.K., semi-retired) I.T. geek and still support a few friends and family who need help with their computers. That being said sometimes its handy to have malware protection or other utilities handy w/o having to log on to download them. Thus the need for a new thumb drive. The 64gb capacity leaves plenty of room for various utilities with room left over for transferring files (if one has occasion to do that). I encrypted the Transcend 64gb using TrueCrypt (yes, I know TC is no longer supported; Im using the last good version (7.1A) and its sufficient for my purposes). The drive has no problem with TrueCrypt and mounts quickly and easily once the password is entered. The retractable feature keeps the USB business end out of harms way, and there is an opening in the other end for hanging the drive on a small ring. HTH Regards, Jim

> 3 dayFor those of you who care about such things: the current version of the JetFlash 790 does *not* have an LED indicator, despite what the item description says. I have an older one of these that does have the indicator. Sustained writes on the one I just bought are around 20MB/s and reads are around 120MB/s.

Greater than one weekI have been using these for years because I have yet to have one fail on me. Unfortunately, Transcend has take off the activity LED that used to be on these drives. I will be trying some other brands since these are not so special anymore.

> 3 dayI have 5 of these flash drives in different capacities and Ive been using them for a couple of years. They are very reliable and I havent had problems despite I usually do not eject flash drives properly. Im comfortable to keep all of my data from university in this flash drive(its always a good idea to keep backup though) and carry it around as I am confident it will not lose my data.

> 3 dayI bought this Transcend Flash Drive on Amazon in 2015. I gave up on it for years, because I could not use it to store more than 32 GB of photo files. The label on it says 64 GB. I run Windows 10 Pro computers here. When I plug in the Flash Drive, select it in Windows File Explorer and right-click my mouse to see the drive properties, it says 32 GB. At the very least, this is misleading. At the very worst, it is false. The average user of a Flash drive should not have to resort to any formatting or change of file systems on the drive, in order to try and get 64 GB. It should perform as advertised, which I believe is a prime directive in product sales and advertising.

Greater than one weekI purchased the 128gb version of this flash drive and so far i like it a lot. The speeds are quite acceptable. I moved a 70 gb photo file to it in no time. Fast access as well. I have limited amount of space on my laptop so I use this to keep things moving along without bogging down my macbook pro. When you plug it in there is a bright blue light and when you transfer data the blue blinks. USB extends with a flick of your thumb. Also I was able to format in several different styles easily. No problems whatsoever. Wish I had another one.

> 3 dayI ended up buying two of these--the black 32 gig USB 3.0 version first. I had initially ordered another Transcend USB drive along with it but the write speed was half what this one is so I returned it and ordered this one again in white. So far so good with read/write speeds. They are as advertised which when I compared them to other drives in this price range is pretty good. 32 gigs for under 12 bucks was unheard of just a year ago. I like the fact that the USB connector draws back inside the plastic housing so its protected. When you need to connect it, its locked into place so you dont have to hold the button down to make the connection. The light is a nice touch. Yes, you can live without it, but having an indicator to let you know if the drive is busy can save you from pulling out the drive at the wrong time thus corrupting the data. Transcend memory cards have been very good to me in the past. Its all Ill use in my high end digital camera. Heres hoping these USB drives also continue to impress me with their performance and longevity.
