Could not keep my freq. when I turned off my scanner. Had to start all over. Very distressing and nerve racking.

Thank you to Police Scanner Outlet first. I thought this was a fair price. I found it is a great price. I like this radio better than the ones with all the WIFI and SD card stuff. I had the BCD396xt and the BCD996xt and now I have the BCD996P2. It is running well. Our tower just changed to Phase 2. MPSCS So Im ready. The 996xt, 396xt, and 996P2 are very good radios. I compare them to the tip line. I also have RS651, PSR600, RS106 and others to compare them to. I had all I needed to start off running from Police-SCANNER-outlet. Get yours next. Thanks PSO. Oh Im a ham radio op. and I know the radios that get what I want to hear...New Radio Is Top Right

Double and triple check that the frequencies you are trying to Program are NOT ENCRYPTED!!! All of the digital frequencies that I paid over $150 to have programmed are absolutely useless because they are encrypted channels. Now I have a $500 analog paperweight sitting on the table next to me!! It took well over a month to get the scanner programmed so I was unable to submit this for a return within the 30 days allowed by Amazon. Caveat emptor

What can I say? 100% better then bcd536hp. Simulcast works! No garble like the other home patrols. Im using proscan to program. It will take some time to get use to for programing even with proscan. Im so use to home patrols setup. Otherwise its a keeper!!! I dont have to play with p25 threshold. I leave it on auto. Homepatrol I had to change the settings and that would not be 100% at least I got this unit for a lower price like 368 instead of paying into the middle 400s like it was before because of Covid.

I was looking at the most expensive model and compared to that. This is certainly a bargain! Fully adjustable priority scan modes and delays. Different colors and audible alerts for each frequency. Actually, theres too many bells and whistles to list. Its a feature packed receiver. Freescan software on line works fantastic. This is not a beginner scanner, and setting up the banks and sub banks takes some thought. Fun though setting it up! Over all a great value paired with my home brew Dipole!

The trunktracker verisions that are a little less expensive than the homepatrol models come at the added cost of having to either program yourself or pay for someone to send you a preprogrammed unit. If you can follow a few simple you tube videos it is not hard to program this unit yourself, and as an added benefit you can then decide to only add the channels you want. If you manage to limit that to what is in your reachable area rather than everything youd get on a zip code search on the home patrol model you can end up with a setup where you have a higher probability of constant traffic. Once I figured out the frequencies used closest to me Ive been able to setup my scanner such that it is almost constant traffic, rather than traffic with periods of dead air I experienced with my home patrol model. My home patrol model was much easier to setup, and only needed my zip code, but along with that you may get more frequencies enabled than you might prefer.

Took watching a few videos for my husband to get the channels programmed, but the sound is great, and he enjoys hearing the calls as he works in the shop.

I was expecting a bit more for the $$$ its only flaw I can find is the audio drop outs when Priority scanning is active and or Weather scanning is active, Apparently the unit needs a lot of time to check for activity in the background to the point that it makes listening almost unbearable, I would hope in the future Uniden can do this fast enough in the background without the 1 second dropouts, It would be almost perfect otherwise. Yes this scanner is difficult to program buying software and a Subscription to RadioReference for the frequencys is a must! or you could be programming it for days or weeks depending on were you live. were I am there is a proprietary 800 system that is close to impossible to program manually.
