I bought this to try because some reviews said it was good for beginners. Id have to disagree. No matter what I did, I couldnt get it to work. I tried just scanning but it didnt pick things up very often. Tried entering frequencies but couldnt get it to take. Not for me, I returned it.

Pros: - Scans Quickly Cons: - Stock antenna isnt great... I dont suppose its meant to be. - No ability to name banks or channels even via computer (This is the worst part) - Should have used USB-Micro or Type-C Charging... this uses USB-Mini, a terrible antiquated port - Backlight times out quickly - Backlight cant be set to light on receive so you have to fumble in time to see a frequency at night - Function Key is Toggle, not momentary so you have to check the screen to see if its engaged For all of its cons its still a serviceable scanner for the price but these are issues that could have been (could be?) addressed at little to no cost.

I liked how brand new it looked and worked. I have nothing bad to write about it.

I use this for rail fanning and it works well. The only small gripe is that the advertised range, with the attached antenna, is not as far as specified. Then again, I am in a hilly area, so that probably makes the range much shorter.

I’m a huge rail fan and I love that it’s got the different bands already programmed. Needed a little tweaking (meaning locking out spurious signals) and it does exactly what I need. I used it with an external antenna so I can sit in my car and have good coverage. Definitely recommend this little guy.

Its fine with earbuds or the like, but unless you hold it close to your ear its very hard to understand what the pilots are saying. And.....I was an airline pilot for 35 years!! Even when riding in my car I cant understand what theyre saying.

Worked great until the police and fire departments in my area switched to p25 phase 2. I used it at work as a security officer since our dispatcher does not always pay attention to theirs. Shame this model can’t be updated to get the new system.

Just a old product.. not up to date.. I have a old radio shack scanner that has all 800 frequencies that I bought in 1998..
