I bought a very expensive Frigidaire portable AC and it came with a flimsy cheap window kit. This is as sturdy as metal....maybe it is....and took no tools or tape to work correctly. This is what should have been included in the $550 the portable AC cost. And BTW, 5.9 is the same as 6 when it comes to the hoses on these portable units. So Frigidaire says its 6, they really mean 5.9.

The hole for the hose to vent through is less than an inch from where the screw plate is supposed to go to attach one of the sliding plates, so the vent has to be at the bottom or at the top of the door, as there is no way to attach both both a plate and the vent. It would be better to put the vent coupler in the center of the panel so that the height can be adjusted using the sliding plates. After struggling with it, I used the black foam strip provided to brace the plates against the door frame, top and bottom; otherwise, it flops around. The foam strip is too firm to fill to the gap between the plates and the door. Did I mention that the foam provided is BLACK? The kit panels are a very light grey and the frame for my sliding door is silver--why would I want an ugly black strip between the two? Fortunately I hase some more forgiving grey foam weather stripping to use. I also used silicone weather stripping tape, which provided a satisfactory seal. Hooray for 3M! The design overlooks the fact that the sliding door lock is right in the middle of where the plates are supposed to go, so I had to work around that as well. Just poorly designed.

I should have listened to the other reviews. The gasket fits (screws) securely onto the hose, that’s no problem, but it will not stay on the part that goes in the window. Part of the problem is the plastic parts that stick out and are supposed to function like like a latch are barely more than a bump and won’t catch. Another problem is the clearance for the window frame is not tall enough so the hose rests on it and bumped out of the slot.

Where do I start? 1) The assembly needs to be 1 to 2 wider. Not enough clearance between the connector and wall to get a clamp on. Work around put the adapter on exhaust duct and tape it. 2) Top and bottom is not wide enough to put a seal. so you have gaps at top and bottom. 3) Top and bottom of window frames have a ridge that the window slides on. The vent assembly has no cut out for these. 4) The assembly is very flimsy. Over all if this sold for $10-$15 it would be a bargain. But for what they are selling it for, not such a good deal and Id seriously consider going to Home Depot or Lowes and get some plywood and make my own.
