This key is lighter material than my original Yamaha key (07 v star 1100) but it cut okay and works on the bike. I just wouldnt want it for a daily key. Price seemed high as well. None the less, I am happy to have a spare now.

This is the OEM key that Yamaha includes with pretty much all of their motorcycles. I purchased this key because I lost my backup for my R6. With only one key left, I did not want to chance misplacing or losing my main key. The same key from the dealership does not cost much more, but would have taken 6-8 business days to receive. Instead of waiting and having to drive to the dealership for the key, I ordered it straight from Amazon. The only difference is the key is uncut so you have to either go to a locksmith, or ACE Hardware to have it cut to match. I rated it a full five stars because this is a genuine Yamaha part, not a shady overseas knockoff. In addition, it works identically as well as what came with the bike.

paid $3 more and had it cut at ACE Hardware Store from my single Master Key (my house was robbed, they stole One bike key on my dresser - ugh, cut off hand 1john 4:10
