1018 Carbon Steel Round Rod, Unpolished (Mill) Finish, Cold Finished Temper, ASTM A108, 1 Diameter, 12 Length

It’s unfortunate I didn’t put the dial indicator on it when it came last week. It easily measures close to an 1-1/16th. I received the 1” pillow block bearings, and was shocked when the shaft wasn’t even close. I’ll have to find a section of 1” shaft locally. Packaging was excellent and it arrived quickly just wrong size.

This review is for steel bar - 1 inch diameter and 12 inches long. I am using this as a lock shaft to replace the chain in use now. I will weld a top (think nail head) on this bar and drill a 1/2 inch hole in the bottom for the lock.

I made a floating arm Trebuchet as a family project to have a little fun during the 4th of July weekend up on the farm. I needed a pretty solid piece of steel rod to mount the counterweights. Locally it was hard to find what I needed at the length I wanted without paying more in labor to have it cut then what the material cost. I took a look on Amazon.com and found this rod. The price was good and through Amazon-Prime shipping was cheap. I ordered it and was pleased with how quickly it arrived and better yet the care that was used to ensure the rod was not damaged in shipment. The folks who packed it did an excellent job of packaging it up to ensure the ends were not damaged in shipment. Good quality steel and nice clean cuts. I filed the ends slightly to take the rough edges off. If I have a need for something like this in the future, I will most certainly consider using Amazon.com again.

I purchased the 1 inch diameter by 72 inches in length. I was so afraid to buy this without really knowing the size but it turned out to be perfect. I was missing a bar for my smith machine and I finally figured it out. I’m so happy with this purchase. The shipping also great it was very fast.

Well its a steel rod. I use this to make rings for my chain mail projects.

Delivered very quickly and tolerance seems good. Using for drive shaft for a project and this fits the gear and should do the trick.

My goof. It is as thin as a paper clip. I needed a steel ROD to keep an air conditioner from falling out of my odd shaped window.
