> 24 hourThe advantage of using a small zip-lock is that you can store all of: thread on a cardboard spool, thread in a skein and loose thread that you have cut but not yet used. This is especially useful for cases where the colours are very similar. I have not tried putting then on a ring, so I cant say how sturdy the set up would be. But even without that, using bags is my preferred technique (toss the colours of your current project in a small box or basket.) I have used the larger type you can buy at the grocery store but even the smallest I could find was larger than these. Tip: you dont need to write on the bag. You can cut a small piece of white cardboard, write the thread number on both sides, and put that in the bag too.

> 24 hourIve used these since the early 80s, and Im so glad Amazon has become an affordable source of them! I used to use them until they died a slow death and and dropped my floss onto the floor at great age. Finally I can replace them in good time! I will never again be without Floss-A-Way bags!

> 24 hourI use these bags all the time when I cross stitch. They are the best and easiest way to keep your floss sorted.

> 24 hourThis is an answer to a prayer as I recently bought a wedding sampler kit that has over 20 colors of floss all hanging from a strip of cardboard, making a tangled mess. Now they are organized and easy to use. And I appreciate the fact that they added a nice spot to write the color number on each little bag and a hole with which to string them onto a metal band!

> 24 hourThis is my second purchase... these are so convenient with the hole for stringing on a ring, and the white block to mark the color is so worth the cost versus using regular baggies. PS...they’re really not pricey for the convenience.

> 24 hourNot as good as my older floss-a-way bags, which had a red stripe reinforcing the closure and hold punch to prevent break through in the ring. Older ones were made of slightly thicker plastic too. Still love these bags. Perfect size for up to 6 skeins of embroidery floss and easy to tuck away leftover cuts to use on that line leftover cross stitch. Cheaper than some smaller sized “pill bags” with write on area that I found at Walgreens (Use for when I just have a single cut left over).
