> 24 hourThis is the second California Air compressor Ive purchased over the years. The first was a 10gl upright. While quiet and reliable, the build quality is horrible...and thats putting it lightly. I decided after 5 years with the last one (which is still going strong - after multiple repairs) Id chance it again in hopes the quality has improved. This time I went with the 4gl aluminum hotdog. Out of the box it was surprisingly light. Set up took merely seconds. Install the muffler, plug it in! This one is even quieter then my other. Build quality is good on this model. Also keep in mind this model does not have wheels. Which was a major issue with the 10gl. So heres my deal with Cal Air. No doubt quietest AC on the market. They look really high end. The motors are incredible and very reliable. The rest of the package leaves a lot to be desired. Worst of all...customer service and the way you have to go about purchasing to replace a part is absurd and tremendously frustrating. Im hoping for better results with this little 4gl.? So far so good. I did replace the couplers and hoping this mandrel doesnt split like the last one. Also hope the muffler holds up better then the previous model? Ill do an update in the following months. Stay tuned. I do recommend at this point. Update ; I have had this compressor for a little over a month. Literally have less then 5 total hours on it. Already broke. One of the supply lines to the switch box snapped off, leaving the remaing thread in the hole. Its in a very difficult place to access. To repair I will either have to replace the whole switch and all the part that go with it, or try to find some way of reading out the remaing threads. To say Im frustrated would be an understatement. This company is something else. Make excellent pumps then outsource the rest of the build to shit manufacturing facility. Makes no sense. Im going to fix this pos, sell it and the other one and find a brand that stands behind their products. Unbelievable. Get your shit together CalAir. Lost another customer, might ask yourself how many lost clients that makes? I do not reccomend this product. Makita makes a quiet compressor. Anything better then having to deal with this crap.

> 24 hourI am a Building Contractor, I bought this to be used from job to job. I prefer to leave my compressor in the truck and run a cord to the truck to power the compressor, then connect a long air hose, it has always worked good. At first when I unpackaged this compressor I was disappointed by the label on the plug stating that this must be directly plugged into an outlet, no extension cord. It turns out this compressor is light enough to easily carry around and quiet enough to work right next to. Like so quiet that you wont believe it. I use it for modest use of one to two guns at a time and it keeps right up. Be aware Im not powering a framing crew with air or anything. I like this compressor so much that I will be buying another one soon !

> 24 hourI bought this in December 2019. Just started using it yesterday August 12, 2020. I aired up (4) ATV tires and (2) lawn mower tires. That was all. Possibly 10 minutes run time total. I turned my back and the motor got louder. I turned it off and air was escaping through a broken fitting. (see photo) This new unit didn’t last 11 minutes. I’ve read the reviews and found that this happens often. Cheap fittings! We removed the broken fitting half, and noticed the threads were poorly machined. Extremely rough threads. It’s quiet and light weight but poor QUALITY. I would not recommend this unit unless you’re prepared to throw the dice and see if you win or lose. This company needs to address this issue and then fix the problem. We bought some brake fittings for approx $7.50 for both ends. (figured from the previous review photos that both ends brake ....... see photos) “Hey California Air Tools get on board and manufacture a good product instead of this cheap junk.” You’ve lost a customer here! BUYERS BEWARE!!!!

> 24 hourI was hesitant to purchase this air compressor given the other reviews, but had friends who swore by California Air Tools compressors. They are by far the quietest compressors I have ever used. I decided to purchase this compressor anyways, and it worked very well at first. After 25 days of owning this compressor and only using it a handful of times, the metal pipe that connects the tanks to the inlet and on/of controls completely sheared while installing baseboards with a 16 gauge nail gun. Needless to say I am completely livid and disappointed at the quality of this product. As much as I appreciate the quietness of the compressor, I would never recommend purchasing anything from California Air Tools. Save your money and spend it on a more reliable product.

> 24 hourWow...this bugger is quiet. Not like refrigerator-running-quiet but compared to my last compressor...Wow!!! I can carry on a conversation standing right next to it. I had an issue after my first time using it...I used the relief valve to release the air in the tank. ( i was checking to make sure it worked). After that I dint use it for a few days and it WOULD not RUN. Couldnt figure out why. Called the CAT hotline and they helped me troubleshoot it. All good and no problems since. ( the pressure switch got stuck in the open postion and the motor stopped) once I got that unstuck...ALL GOOD!

> 24 hourI have 2 other compressors (Porter cable pancake - 3 gallon and a Husky. I like them all, but this one is by far the quietist. I think Im going to sell the others. I like the two art ports on the front. The others I own only have 1. Ive only had it a little over a week, but it works well so far.

> 24 hourVery quiet, reasonable price. Ive heard great things about these compressors and now that Im starting a remodel of my own home while living in it, I finally pulled the trigger on a quality quiet air compressor. So far, its failed on the first job. Attached photo is the power cord once removed- incredibly, this isnt the failure point of the power cord. Fortunately the compressors control box accepts a standard 1/2 strain relief, so if youre handy you probably have a spare cord, crimp connectors, and a proper strain relief to replace the cord on your truck.
