> 3 dayI’ve owned this 4610 AC California Air Tools compressor for about eight months now. I only used it a handful of times and one of the metal threaded hose connections between the tank and regulator broke preventing the unit from building up air pressure. The threaded part of the adapter was broken inside the regulator and could not be removed. I tried for weeks to get a hold of someone at the company to either service it or send replacement parts but without any luck. I honestly don’t believe there is a customer service department. I would say that if you want a quiet Compressor, this won’t disappoint however if anything goes wrong, you are on your own.

> 3 dayPreviously had a Porter Cable 6 gal pancake compressor. If you were within 20 feet of it when it kicked on it was loud enough to put you through the roof. That is one of the reasons I chose the California 4610. I had several other problems with my old P C compressor till the tank finally rotted out much sooner than it should have. The California 4610 has aluminum tanks and a drain valve that is very accessible and a dream to operate so blowing out water buildup frequently is simple. Ive been using the 4610 continuously for over two months now and I have absolutely no complaints. And, they are not kidding about it being quiet. You can stand beside it and it doesnt make much more sound than a loud hum. I rarely rate tools or equipment because you really need to give something a good long term workout before you are qualified to give an honest review. So far I believe this one is a winner!

> 3 dayDecimal level is fantastic compared to normal air compressor. I’m able to meet with clients or talk on the phone and it doesn’t disrupt conversation. Performance of air compressor keeps up great with my air tools for upholstery.

Greater than one weekIve been using a friends single tank unit for a while, and the noise level compared to the average pancake is tiny. Is it a dentist office unit? Nope, louder than that, but what do you want for under two bills for the steel tank version. I just ordered one for myself to replace my home made 8 gal oil compressor, simply because that one has no guard, and although quiet, way louder than this unit. For those saying they are running out of air - Please note it _IS_ only rated for 2.1 CFM. The bigger tanks only really help on intermittent use. If you draw a LOT for a few seconds or so, the dual tanks help, but if it is draw a lot, pause for only a few seconds, draw a lot, you really WILL need a bigger compressor (no matter who makes it) CAT does sell 1.5 and 2HP versions with CFM ratings up around 5, but of course, they cost more, and draw more current (the 2HP is at 14amps peak, so figure a dedicated outlet) I figure Ill put the big tank unit in the garage, for when I need more CFM, and just go from there (It has a pump for a 8HP compressor slowed way down)

> 3 dayWe are extremely pleased with this purchase. It is so quiet that we can hear each other talk when the compressor is running, unlike our previous one. We highly recommend it.

> 3 dayI prefer this to my older Porter Cable compressor but I dont like being taken for a ride. This is made in China. It is quieter than my Porter Cable but is far from Ultra Quiet. Durability still unknown. Instructions fair to poor; they tell you for instance to release pressure using the safety release valve but nowhere in the instruction manual does it say where or what the safety release valve is. It is lighter than my older steel compressor, which is a big help. I bought this and a Hitachi brad nailer together. They work well together, but the Hitachi nailer has superb instructions, whereas compressor has poor instructions. It matters.

> 3 dayWe bought this compressor to replace a truly super quiet AMS compressor that is not oil free and pumped a lot of oil. I suspect we burned a seal in the AMS from the get-go because it didnt have enough capacity to close an automatic drain valve on a piece of equipment and ran for hours when it only has a 15 minute on 15 minute off duty cycle - it was so quiet we didnt hear it running in our back dungeon room where we kept the typical cheap compressors to reduce the deafening noise. I dont want to trash the AMS, it is a very nice unit but can have this problem. While not as incredibly quiet as the AMS, this one is so much quieter than the usual cheap compressors that we can keep it in the work area without it being a distraction and doesnt need to be relegated to the back dungeon. It makes it easy to drain and track problems if it is cycling too often, and has enough more capacity that it will close the (small) auto drain valve at startup. We have only had it for 3 weeks, but so far works nicely.

> 3 dayIt will not power an air tool, the air depletes very quick and would not recover fast enough. Good for projects that do not require cfm.

> 3 dayFirst off, this thing is surprisingly quiet. Everything works great and practically no leakage. After 1 week at full pressure, there was only 1.5lb of pressure loss. There was a small amount of damage which I am not concerned about. You can run this in the house and not disturb anyone. I would recommend an auxiliary air tank though. I used the tank from the dead 20 gallon compressor this unit is replacing. Less than $8 in parts and its a fully functional tank. I spoke with California Air Tools and they told me that this is a 70/30 motor and that I shouldnt run the compressor for more than an hour at a time so the 4 minutes it takes to fill the total 24.6 gallons doesnt worry me. Sure, it takes a little longer to get 20 gallons of air, but my ears arent bleeding while the compressor is running.
