16-04-2025I recommend one of two things. one, get one of these at least once every six months to prevent clogged water lines or get a plug to plug the drain on your hot water heater. beware though if you simply get a plug, you could ruin your hot water tank with constant bad water. this rod works hard at protecting your hot water tank, but you should check it at least once every three months to ensure that it is not breaking down in your system. i like them and will continue to use the rods, not plugs.

> 3 dayAluminum anode rods are recommended for hard water applications and magnesium anode rods for water with little or no mineral content.

> 3 dayIf you mineral content in your water is eating up your rods too fast this is a good alternative. Gets rid of the smell you have with some magnesium water combinations. If magnesium works, stay with that. If not, this is a good alternative.

Greater than one weekThis product does what it says it does, protects your water heater from corrosion be attracting contaminants to the tank. Just because your tank is glass lined which many are now, it doesnt mean your tank will not rust through. Is it not better to pay $17 each year or so instead of $400+ for a water heater?

> 3 dayGreat - fit my 6 gallon heater just fine. I removed it later to drain the tank and it is definitely doing it’s job.

> 3 dayThe anode fits perfectly in our RV for the water heater. I recommend this product for anyone needing the anode to protect your hot water heater.

Greater than one weekIm giving it 4 stars because there is nothing wrong with the rod but it did not fit my Suburban 8 gallon tank. The threads were too long, 3/4 of an inch. Id previously bought a Camco rod that fit my tank, the threads were 1/2 inch long so must have been a different part number. So just make sure you have the right rod. See the picture of the old rod and the 11563 rod.
