> 3 daycan be difficult to install (Im running Windows 7 and it glitches unless I install it from the administrator account (entering the administrator password to okay it on a regular account does not work)), but other than that it works. if youre buying this for convenience, it only saves time for long things like essays and emails--using it for small things is more hassle than its worth. If youre buying it for a disability (I have it to relieve a repetitive stress injury), its the most viable software on the market. If youre trying to use it to replace all of your typing, you should learn the NATO phonetic alphabet because it is very bad at recognizing individually spelled letters for correction, but it is very good at recognizing the NATO phonetic alphabet

> 3 dayIf you skip all of the promotional and advertising copy and search the very fine print (it should be more prominently displayed), you will find out that Dragon Naturally Speaking v.12 is not compatible with electronic medical records (EMR). Nuance wants to force those in healthcare to pay up to $2000 for the so-called medical version. If you purchase Dragon v.12 and try to use it with an EMR, the Dragon program will eventually detect that you are using an EMR and will cease working. This is a deliberate incompatibility that was engineered into the program. Nuance designed Dragon to actively look for an EMR, and to disable the Dragon program if an EMR is detected. This is discrimination, pure and simple. It also raises the question of whether the Dragon program violates the privacy of the owner of the computer on which it has been installed. I believe that this policy of crippling the software will end up hurting Nuance in the long run. If so, the company would deserve it.

> 3 dayI have had Dragon 8, 9 and 10. I was wondering if the program is going to be worth the money or whether I should use the Microsoft speech recognition software. (which I checked out) The improvement in the functioning from those past programs versions is great. I recommend the program. I give it four stars because I still think its $30-$50 too expensive.

> 3 dayYou have to train the software to your voice and speech patterns. And, the software also trains you to say; period, paragraph, comma, numeral one, hyphen, etc. It was really a bit too much for me to use for anything other than somewhat short and quick notes. This isnt a learn it in a week type program. Its gonna be continuing education. It cant read your mind. If you are a writer, or doctor, this would be very worthwhile. The random and varied items that i have to type every day is just too broad of spectrum to be able to make good use of the this software. Also, any noise in the background can become an obstacle to its deciphering your speech properly. I am seldom in an environment where noise will not be an issue. I did get a voice recorder that does work well in transcribing my notes, but again, background noise obliterated many of my notes..

Greater than one weekThis review of mine is just a personal experience. Some people’s experience might be different from mine. I got this version for some time already, and I’ve only used it in the first year for a couple of reason. I put up many hours in the practice module; I even bought a sennheizer USB headset with a mic to have a better experience using it; however, the result is still subpar. Whats confusing though is that, I always do good in every practice mode, but every time I use it for my article that’s when the problem starts to happen. It’s receiving a lot of unintended words that I have to keep repeating myself over and over again. To me, the software only likes a certain kind of tone to understand the word because it can have issues when I start to speak a little bit excited or even worse such as like a conversational tone. Right now, I tried to be simple and only use an app that I bought in apple store, and it only cost me $9.99. The result is way better than my experience with the dragon software. It doesn’t even need any special headset or practice module. So to be short, my experience is just a waste of time and money.

> 3 dayIts a interesting and useful piece of technology, however every piece of technology has its flaws. The headset works well for the most part, however there are a notable amount of times where the speech isnt recognized. Had a couple problems with text to speech as well.

12-04-2025I have enjoyed Dragon a great deal. It has fantastic voice recognition and is generally easy to use. I would only suggest Dragon make getting answers to questions easier. I am still trying to figure out negotiating the body of, for instance, E-mails. I think the instructions should lend themselves more to the Computer Dummy. Other than that I find the product excellent for dictation, etc. Yes I would recommend it to others.

> 3 dayI have an infirmity in my hands and makes it difficult to type, so I badly needed assistance from my voice recognition software package. This package is working well, it couldnt be better. However it seems determined to add unwanted words. At present, it inserts the word for over and over and over again. The program does save me time, for but for needs considerable refinement . It also skips words. Using the program requires a great deal of time for editing.

> 3 dayI invested in a high-quality desktop mic for my computer so that I can use Dragon Naturally Speaking. However, the computer keeps telling me that the audio quality is very poor and recommends the mic be 1 to 2 inches from my face. I dont know about any of you, but my workspace is not set up so that I can have microphone an inch from my face for the entire day. I also dont want to be tethered to my desk with a headset and cord all day. the speech recognition quality actually seems to be somewhat reasonable, but the value is questionable. The biggest downside is that Dragon does not work with Microsoft Lync, which is an egregious oversight. looking online, I now see that there are articles from several years ago saying that Reagan does not work with Lync. WTF? The main reason I have carpal tunnel syndrome is because Im typing in Lync messenger all day. This was basically a waste of money.

> 3 dayI found the Dragon NaturallySpeaking software easy to use. But it takes much patience to wait for it to type. You have to speak slowly so that it understands you. I feel like I can type much faster than the speed at which they system types. I use it when my carpal tunnel gets to be too painful. It is a good program to fall back on when my hands become too tire. I have to learn to be more patient with the slower speed at which the softwaret types.
