> 3 dayGuitar for Dummies is a good place to start learning how to play. Its pretty straight forward in teaching chords and strumming techniques and I really enjoyed that it had the built in recorder, metronome and tuner. The only drawback is that with SOME lessons the teacher assumes you know certain things already. Ive never picked up a guitar in my life before buying this and now I can at least play along to simple songs. It was worth it for the price.

Greater than one weekI found this quite useful in that it encourages me to pick up the guitar and play along to some of the tunes and it does help with getting your timing more accurate as I often find my playing speed varies when Im playing along on my own. There is a lot of variety in the songs from folk to rock and you are introduced to appropriate timing and strumming techniques in a very clear way. You can play along with the songs and then you get a virtual fretboard displayed and flashing notes to indicate where you - should be - up to; beware though the bloke who sings most of these songs has an absolutely awful voice.

Greater than one weekThis was a gift I purchased for a relative of mine who is just getting into music or more preferably learning how to play guitar. I brought it after it was referenced to me by one of my studio clients who had recommended it to his students in the past. I cant say much about it because I havent used it first hand but I did run through the program that was lent to me and it is very very informative. Even though I dont play guitar I do play several instruments and understand what good music theory is. This is a great stepping stone for someone just starting out.

Greater than one weekAs stated, if you are a beginner who doesnt even know how to string a guitar, have trust that youll learn here. From simple folk songs, like Clementine to Knockin on heavens door (by both Bob Dylan and Guns and Roses) youll learn by playing. It comes with a metronome to help you learn the beat, a tuner (and by comes with I mean, it uses your microphone on your computer, so youre best to actually buy a real tuner) and a full chord chart.

> 3 dayI am a complete beginner and only just invested in a guitar, so I fit within the intended target group and there is indeed great help to find starting off with an intro to the different types of guitars, the terminology used (there is a glossary should you need to look it up later), strumming the guitar - and of course most importantly the different cords and a selection of songs - and it is interactive, so you can both see and hear how it is supposed to sound/look. There is even a variable speed option should you want to slow down or speed up a particular lesson.

> 3 dayI am still learning, as Ive only been through the first two chapters, but are already starting to pick it up quickly. I really like the built in tuner, metronome and instructions on how to string a guitar for when one of your strings inevitably will break.
