FakeTV FTV-11 Extra Bright Burglar Deterrent Television Simulator

I dont know if this is a burglar deterrent or not, but it seems like a decent idea. The device works well and required virtually no power. I rigged it to flash against the wall in back of the television and after adjusting the blinds it was visible at night from outside the house. Id buy it again.

A friend has had one for many years & even brought his mom one, as they travel a lot. Now i bought one for myself....but i got the HD.

Nice piece of mind. If it gives one burger pause it paid for itself. It is smaller than I anticipated which is nice as you can pretty much put it anywhere without being intrusive. It throws fairly convincing pattern, I have mine pointed toward the window. I put mine a mechanical timer to increase the randomness of the on/off cycle.

A little expensive for what it is, but it works well. I bought it before going on vacation to make the house look occupied at night. It looks surprisingly real when you have a semi opaque shade. We decided just to leave on the sensor setting and have it set up all the time so the house looks occupied weather we are home or not.

Tried using it a few times(then put it away) and it works great. As it is an early X-Mas gift purchase I can not judge it further.

Almost too bright. I had to pull it back farther from the window to make it look like our TV looks normally. Nice, random lights like the TV.

I was SO disappointed when I opened the box. We had ordered a carry on piece of luggage and both came in one huge box. I just assumed that the Fake TV would be about the size of a small actual TV. I was stunned when I could hardly find the box in the large box. This is SO small. About 3 x 2 or so. I was really ready to hate it and send it back before even trying it. But, I tried it. And, I am SO glad I did! It works SO well. I was very pleasantly surprised to go outside, look in and see what looked like an actual TV running! Please note, as others have said, the room the Fake TV is in needs to be dark. No lights on. Door shut. I opened my blinds just a bit, tested it several times and it really works! This is SO cool! Get it!

The idea is great but when I had it on in my upstairs bedroom where I typically watched TV (37 inch LCD) the light simulated didnt appear realistic. From the outside it looked more like I had a huge CHristmas tree in my bedroom that flickered on and off. The green light was particularly bright. Instead of getting the FTV-10, I wanted something bright in case the FTV-10 was not bright enough. I figured I could close the blinds if it was too bright. But brightness is not the issue; its the flashing red and green that made it appear unrealistic. I tried putting the FTV-11 in 6 different positions in the bdroom and tried adjusting the blinds. I had my boyfriend stand outside in the backyard and I was on the phone with him coordinating my adjustments to what he saw from the backyard, and then we switched roles and I was outside looking at the window while he was inside moving the fake TV around and adjusting the blinds. Couldnt get it to look right. If anything, this will alert passersby to wonder what the hell is going on inside that bedroom. I am going to return this and attempt to get the FTV-10 - the photo doesnt appear to have those red and green LEDs that the FTV-11 has.

Awesome. I bought two for me and one for each of my children for their apartments. Aim at ceiling. Works great.
