> 3 daySo far it does seem to work ok. -Bottom not marked with pins out like the MakerFocus board. In fact you cant read whats on the bottom printing quality so bad. -Uart chip is counterfeit. Factory markings painted over.

> 3 dayI was sooooo close to returning these because I really didnt understand them and I could not get them to be recognized by my mac or PC. I am so glad I figured it out because they are unbelievably awesome. Small, compact yet powerful and fast. Using one of these for about 4 wireless sensors and a 120/5volt relay in my garage, all hooked up thru Apple HomeKit. Totally amazing. would buy again. Great product, well manufactured. All the reading you see are from this one unit. I will be adding a few more sensors before this one is filled up. Love it.

> 3 dayMost important piece of info that no one seems to share. Connect Pin GPI00(Pin D3) to GND. Plug into USB Run the Firmware programmer(com port, I set baud to 9600, select your firmware build) Hit flash and voila its working, wait until blue bar finishes.

> 3 daySetup wasnt too bad (maybe 20 minutes of Googling). But one board wouldnt connect to LAN while the other would. I bought these for a project using Ubidots. I was able to connect and upload IOT data to Ubidots on the part that worked. Id give 5 stars if both worked. Since one worked, Ill give it half stars (but round up).

> 3 dayUPDATE: I first thought this board was defective, given the exact same behavior experienced in the reviews. HiLetgo reached out to me, which was nice. Their response didnt help, but once I got a good IDE up and running, the boards seem to work fine. So, user error I guess.

> 3 dayIve used quite a few different microcontrollers over the last few years for various projects - mostly home automation, but some professional R&D as well. I first picked up a pair of these when I wanted to easily wire power into a microcontroller via USB without dealing with +/-5 wires dangling to a controller. USB power adapter into wall, usb cable to microcontroller, done. Nice and clean and didnt need to tie up my power supply. Next, while Ive used Tasmota on and off via flashing microcontrollers and dealing with connecting UARTs to pc boards, I can plug the NodeMCU into my computer, fire up tasmotizer, and have these things flashed and configured in a minute or two. Power it back up, it connects to wifi and then my message queue and is ready to take commands. I get what I said is a bunch of greek - theres still a learning curve, but at least for me the NodeMCU is a really handy puzzle piece for when Im trying to work on end functionality, not on the microcontroller itself. Add in a 3v3 relay module or some sensors and you can quickly get up and running with this. Highly recommended.
