Infant Optics Wide Angle Lens For DXR-8

As you can see the night vision is not the same quality as the standard license that the DXR 8 came with.

Bought another camera initially when I had my son. Lasted me for 5 months. Searched all over for a good camera that would see everything with a large screen and would help me sleep better at night knowing that it was working. Well I found it! This camera is amazing! I bought the additional wide angle lens and can not speak more highly of it! The picture is clear and the sound is amazing! I also love the fact that the screen turns off after a certain time so that at night it isnt blinding me while I get my rest! Thank you again for such an amazing product! Only negative is I wish I could afford a second camera!!!!

Baby’s room has low ceilings so that the camera couldn’t get far enough from the crib to fully show on the monitor. This wide angle lens made all the difference. Perfect for our situation!

I tried different cameras and apps and many of them had some issues of their own. From not enough signal strength to issues with the WI FI. This system has NONE of those issues or concerns. It has worked marvelously and this lens has been extremely helpful. Very easy to install in the camera. Your pleased with the system works as designed. You are thrilled when it makes a very difficult task easier for those who we care about. This lens is ideal for widening the view of a room and you can zoom in. Simple, but effective.

I purchased this wide angle lens along with the DXR-8 for my toddlers room. I really like how this lens zooms the camera view out, which allows us a lot of flexibility in placement. The first night we had the camera set up, the night vision turned on but it was very, very dark. We turned the contrast up as much as we could and focused it directly on the crib and we could just barely see our toddler. The second night we moved the camera to a new position and when we turned it on the night vision didnt work. Turned it off, and a couple of hours later we turned it on again and the night vision was back on, but still pretty dim. The third night we moved it again, and the night vision did not work at all. I called Infant Optics and they had no idea. I returned the camera through Amazon and ordered a new one, since the infant Optics representative figured I had a faulty monitor. When I got the new camera and monitor, I quickly plugged it in in my (dark) closet and the night vision worked perfectly! Woohoo! I put the wide angle lens on the new camera and moved it to my toddlers room. Guess what? No night vision! I searched high and low for answers, saw no other complaints from other purchasers of this camera, and had a very hard time figuring it out. Then - an AHA moment. It was this wide angle lens!! Took it off, and the night vision is functioning and perfect. What?? Makes no sense to me.

I cant believe how much more I can see with the wide angle lens on the camera. We moved our camera to see a blind spot in my daughters room, and I was surprised how it limited the room view. I figured this $12 lens was worth a try over adding another camera to a 10 x 8 room. We went from seeing just a mini crib to seeing literally everything in the room! Like other reviews I agree the night vision is not as great, but its fine enough.

This was such a great purchase. I spent most of my night chasing my 12 month old around the crib using the regular lens. Now I can be a paranoid mother easier by just glancing over and seeing where he is and how he is sleeping!

Works perfectly. I didnt have any issues with the nighttime quality. Its one of the best images I have seen in a baby monitor. It zooms in and still has a clear image. I can see my daughter face so clearly to the point where I feel comfortable not being near her which is huge for me since she has had medical issues in the past. I need to be able to see her face clearly especially well she sleeps. This lens gives me that peace of mind. Im so tthankful for how much more zoomed in I get and how clear it is. Well worth every penny plus more.

I bought this lens right away when I originally bought our camera - our daughter was just over a year and still confined to her crib. When showing my husband, he thought this extra lens would be a waste of money. We are now expecting #2, so we purchased a second camera when the price dropped; and have been using it with the wide lens in the living room for when we need to run to the basement to do laundry and our 2 year old is watching a movie or reading her books. It gives peace of mind that shes not getting into something she shouldnt be when we are out of the room for a few minutes. The wide lens is fantastic for toddlerhood. In fact my husband has now asked me to get a second lens so we can have one for each camera. It went from useless, waste of money to hey we should get a second one. So even if you dont use it right away, it is very handy for when your toddler starts playing independently. It allows you to view the whole room without having to scan the camera to find where your child is hiding.

Our daughter just transitioned into a toddler bed and she likes to get up and explore her room so we had to get the wide angle lens. We have used these cameras with the monitor for 2.5 years and have not had any issues that couldnt be fixed but the picture quality in night vision mode truely is awful. I did read the others reviews and was hoping i wouldnt have the same opinion but unfortunately i do. I need this lense no matter what so now we just have to deal with it. but i wouldnt recommend this to anybody.
