Infant Optics Wide Angle Lens For DXR-8

The DXR-8 is both a highly rated and highly reviewed product, which is why my wife and I decided to get this model. We love that we can pan the camera, but also how amazingly quiet the panning is. We also like the ability to two-way talk has made life a bit easier from time to time. We also like that if we were to lose internet, our camera would still work, unlike our previous product.

I normally dont write reviews, but my experience with this company was one of the best! My monitor broke after 17 months of buying it. I contacted their customer service and they worked very patiently with me to see if it could be fixed. It couldnt so they replaced my old monitor and shipped me a brand new one for free even though I was out of the 1 year warranty period! They even shipped it out in 2 days! I love using their monitors to check on my kids! The image is very clear and the temperature reading is a nice feature!

This wide angle veiwing lense definitely gives me extra range in my field of view when I use it with my camera, and its easy to put on or take off. It protrudes a bit from the camera, but I expect as much. However, its frustrating that I needed to buy an ADDITIONAL lense just to get the same view that I would typically get from other baby monitors in this same price range, so it was an added expense that didnt seem totally necessary

I purchased the wide angle lens because I had to install the camera at the very top of my wall at the ceiling in order to get the whole crib in the picture. I was worried about the night vision due to other reviews, but the manufacturer stated that issue was fixed. It definitely is fixed because I do not see a different between the regular lens or night vision lens. Pros: - I could install the camera lower and get the whole crib and additional parts of the room - By installing it lower I could accurately use the temperature feature of the camera - Night vision and regular vision works great - Did not affect the quality of the picture at all Cons: - The night vision does have a hot spot but this is more of a camera con rather than because of the actual lens. I had this same hot spot using the regular lens as well. Overall it works great and I absolutely needed this wide angle lens for this camera in order to use it the way that I wanted to.

The wide lens isnt that much wider than the standard. So Im not sure that I would have ordered it had I known. The night vision isnt truly night vision. You still need a significant amount of light to see anything in the dark. Maybe in the home setting it is fine. But I use it in my goat barn during kidding season to watch for babies being born. I have to leave all the lights on in the barn to see anything after dark.

We didnt initially realize the lens on our camera was interchangeable and were looking at other cameras that had a wider viewing area. The camera continued to pop up on best sellers lists and saw one comment that mentioned purchasing the wider lens. So we gave it a shot, dropped $12 to buy this lens, 100% worth it, EXACTLY what we wanted. We can see the whole room, and didnt have to spend a few hundred on a new camera. Totally worth the investment!

We have this monitor in a room with a toddler in a toddler bed. He is able to get out of the bed on his own. With this lens on the baby monitor, we can see almost the entire room, and hear him, too. It is super-awesome! The night mode gives a green picture and is sometimes grainy, but pretty OK given that it is really dark in the room.

After 2.5 years with no baby monitor in a small home, we decided to purchase this one because we will soon be moving our infant into the same room as our toddler. The picture quality on the camera is fantastic, and it provides us with peace of mind knowing that our kiddos are safe together in the same room. We also purchased the wide view lens so that we can see both the crib and the twin bed.

Its good, not amazing. Definitely adds the benefit of being able to see an entire room which is very helpful for the playroom, but it does come with a compromise in quality. Picture isnt very clear (although clear enough), especially when kiddo isnt very close to the lens. Still, a better alternative to the regular lens for our family & Im grateful for the increased perspective.

The wide angle lens works great for daytime, but the night vision is not the best. I can only see a small circle of the room in the center of the camera when the night vision is on. I need to pan the camera around to see anything other than that small circle.
