Alternatives like even instant oceanss Reef Crystals, dont work as well and raise values like calcium and alkalinity beyond what you would really want. In cases like this, plain is better. Stick to standard Instant Ocean if you want best effect for your reef/saltwater aquarium.

Ive been using Instant Ocean for over Thirty years. I started using it when I started my Hobby, when I became a research scientist and throughout the Thirty five years I ran an Aquarium business. I cannot recommend this salt enough.. Reef Tank, Invert Tank or a Simple Table top tank. Ive installed aquariums up to Ten Thousand Gallons, and as small as 1 gallon. They were all filled with Instant Ocean.. Now that I am almost retired?.. Getting it delived to your door for this price?... Priceless!

I use this brand for the value. I’ve never had an issue with my saltwater tanks using this brand. Only problem I’ve noticed is that it takes a little more than what is recommended. I use for small batches of water, usually 5 gallons. I usually have to add about an extra cup to it to get salinity correct. Otherwise no issues. And the price is much better than the other brands. Just make sure you check the salinity before adding to aquarium.

I’m not sure why but my salt is as hard as a rock now. I keep the bag closed when I’m not using it, but it’s like cement now. Other than that, it dissolves well and my fish aren’t dead so

I specifically bought this to use for hatching baby brine shrimps and my bbs have been hatching very well and consistently. I’m sure half of it has to do with the bbs eggs I’m using also, but the hatch rate has been 10x better than my past experience when I was using freshwater aquarium salt. This almost will last me an extremely long time!

I bought this for hatching Baby Brine Shrimp and it works great. I feed them to freshwater fish (betta, corydoras, white clouds, hillstream loach) and havent had any problems . I sometimes filter the shrimp out or pour them in with the brine and havent had any issues. I do keep heavily planted tanks though.

so the great thing about this, is I use to buy the 5 gallon salt buckets. MAN one drop of water in there and no you are chiseling your way through the chunks of hard salt now. This box actually has individual bags, so if one bag got wet, it will only affect that bag, the rest of the salt is safe. it happens sometimes when i use my scooper to put the salt into the RO water to make my salt water and a splash will hit the handle or the 5 gallon bucket and then its all over.. I like it better this way for me.
