Greater than one weekI bought this Roomba i4+ because Amazon was having a sale and I was curious if it would freak out my dog. When it arrived, I set it up according to the very simple instructions contained in a booklet included in the box. The instructions may have been a bit too simple, though, because they neglected to explain - for example - that Roomba cant connect to 5Ghz wifi networks. They wait to let the mobile app tell you that after the robot has failed to connect to wifi three or four times and you finally click on the (tiny) Help Me icon at the bottom of the screen. Anyway I finally got it set up, but for $400 it was not nearly as smooth a process as it should be. Once everything was finally working, I pushed the button in the app to make the little robot go clean my apartment. It rolled off the charging deck with a cute little chirp, looked around for a moment, and then made a beeline directly for my fireplace. The fireplace is closed off by a cover, but the floor around it is lower than the floor in the rest of the room. The Roomba app assured me that this would not be a problem, because Roomba can handle slight elevation changes like that. Well, maybe some Roombas can handle it, but my little guy could not. It threw itself into the fireplace and immediately got stuck there, whirring around in noisy little circles for approximately fifteen minutes until it finally gave up and sent a notification to my app that it needed help. I picked it up and repositioned it away from the fireplace. It thanked me with another happy little chirp and whirled around it what I took to be a little dance of joy at its newfound freedom. Then it turned and threw itself directly back into the fireplace. It did this six more times. Finally, I wised up and put a bunch of heavy objects around the fireplace so it would not be able to get back in there (despite several of its best efforts). The Roomba then decided to clean under my coffee table. Finally, it was working as intended! But then I got a notification that, with less than a quarter of the room vacuumed, my Roomba was done. It was returning to its charging station. Only instead of returning to its charging station, it repeatedly slammed itself into a wall approximately six feet away from its charging station. I assumed it would eventually figure out it was in the wrong place, and I let it do its thing while I went into another room. When I came back an hour later, it was powered down in more or less the same place, apparently having died in the middle of an effort to climb up the wall itself. I put it back on flat ground, turned it back on (the battery wasnt dead after all - not even close, actually), and watched as it tried again. It did a 180, went to the exact opposite side of the room, did a few circles, and then finally seemed to figure out where it was. It then, at long last, returned to its charging station, having successfully cleaned perhaps 25% of my small living room. It was all kind of funny to watch, and Ill probably use it again just for laughs. But as a cleaning product it is definitely not worth $400. Oh, and also - the dog didnt show any interest in it at all.

Greater than one weekThe product is great! It didnt come with a manufacturer waranty, registration or a QR code to help with set up. This is strange. Product was sold to me as new, wouldnt this information be included?

> 3 dayI didn’t realize the device runs on 2.4G. I originally thought this would be an issue since I run my WiFi on 5G. Turns out my modem is dual band and so there is no issue at all. There was nothing in the description. I thought I would have to return it. It works great. My favorite features are the self emptying and the mapping. I can have it run in the main part of the house or the entire house. It’s a keeper.

> 3 dayOh My Lanta I dont think Ive been this happy about a vacuum ever! The whole time it was mapping my house and cleaning at the same time just made my day! I cant stop smiling! It did a fantastic job cleaning and mapped my house pretty impressively! The app is really easy to use too! Best Purchase EVER!!!! Adding an Edit: I also wanted to point out that I do have hardwood floors, that do have runner rugs all throughout the house and my Roomba does great with transitioning from hardwood to carpet. I didnt have a problem with it connecting to my WIFI or with the App. It does say that it takes a couple times cleaning to map out your house just right. But after the first time my Roomba cleaned it had mapped out my house pretty nicely. If I could Id give my Roomba 10 stars!!

Greater than one weekI have 5GH wifi and this product only runs on 2.4GH, so back it goes! I never saw that anywhere on the Amazon listing, on the box, in the instructions, only after the connection to the app failed four times did I notice that in the app, thats where it says it. 2 hours of my life I wont get back.

> 3 dayAbsolutely nothing special about this things vacuuming ability. I bought this vacuum for our upstairs, roughly 700 sq ft. It takes the Roomba over an hour to do its job and it does an okay job at best, really it needs to do 2 passes 3 times a week to get the pet hair (from 1 cat), which now puts it at over 2 hours to do its job. Spectacularly unimpressive. It gets stuck in odd locations it didnt have a problem with 3 days prior and you have to go save it. After a whopping 2 months, the vacuum broke. I should have bought the warranty but it wouldnt change this review, it would just make it an easier pill to swallow having bought the wrong product, but my takeaway of I should have bought a Dyson would still stand. I understand things break and the replacement parts arent very expensive but I wouldnt have bought any product with these kinds of issues. This product definitely does NOT need vacuum bags. Unneeded design add-on to help drive up the price. A bin the customers could have dumped would have been just as easy to include in the design. I ordered some pocket zippers and hot glued them onto the back of a few bags I cut a slit in, and now I have reusable bags. Works Great! 10 out of 10 on a product idea. 3 out of 10 on product execution. Overall it doesnt vacuum very well, its slow, its noisy, it takes more maintenance than youd expect from a vacuum, especially a vacuum with a higher price tag. Cool idea, still a long way to go before this is a good product.

> 3 dayHave had i4 for a month and am disappointed. On the plus side, it does pick up good and the self-empty feature works good. on the down side, the i4 (basically the same as i3) is random in its vacuuming process. The model is not able to use smart mapping, which is a feature I discovered is available on newer i7 and up models. Smart mapping is really needed on a smart iRobot type vacuum and I wish I knew this before I purchased. I contacted support via email, which took a week to respond, which then confirmed, too bad, your model doesnt have the latest feature and we cant upgrade the firmware Ill keep using it, since it does vacuum, but I am disappointed with the poor programing and features of the i4.

> 3 dayI was so excited to finally splurge on a Roomba - I have two dogs and live where fir needles are a constant in the house. After running it the first time, my excitement died down. My roommate and I agreed that it was a good in-between cleanings vacuum. Something to help keep the amount of needles down, but if companys coming over we need to use the upright vacuum. Weve used it a handful of times now, and yesterday was the worst run yet. It missed large areas of some rooms, while going over others 3-4 times. It definitely does not do straight lines! I wish I could elect to do specific rooms, but I wasnt ready to spend that much for those models. I dont know that I would purchase it again, but I will continue using it for the in-between cleanings.
