These are 1000 mcg pills. These are Lozenges which means that they can be chewed or dissolved in the mouth. I felt they are little too big for me to keep under the tongue, so I keep it in the mouth and it gets dissolved just fine. These have a lemon flavour, which is sweet and not bitter. I did not feel any after-effects or discomfort from the tablets. VITAMIN B12 DEFICIENCY Vitamin B12 is important for functioning of brain and nervous system. It plays vital roles in fat and protein metabolism, hemoglobin and red blood cell production, DNA synthesis and nerve maintenance and repair. Some of the symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency include fatigue, lethargy, depression, poor memory, breathlessness, headaches, and pale skin. If ignored for too long, Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause severe and permanent damage. Since Vitamin B12 effects the brain function it can also effect the mood and low levels of vitamin B12 is also linked to depression and paranoia. DOSAGE Recommended Dietary allowance for Vitamin B12 varies with age, whether person is pregnant, or nursing, if there is a condition that needs to be treated or if a person is healthy. Usually for healthy adults the dosage is considered to be 2.4-4.0 mcg per day irrespective of which type of B12 (cobalamin) is being taken. However, for people having vitamin B-12 deficiency the doctor may prescribe higher doses. Since Vitamin B12 is water soluble, so excess Vitamin B12 is removed by the body (and doses upto 500-1000 mcg wont cause side-effects). There are no Upper intake levels suggested, however, if a person ends up in taking extremely high amounts of B-12 body will start using more water to purge the excess B12 out of body and may start showing the symptoms of overdose such as flushing of the skin, increased thirst, excessive urination and diarrhea. ARE THESE PILLS VEGAN The information on the bottle says that these are vegan and does not contain wheat, glutten, soybeans, dairy, egg, fish/shellfish, peanuts/tree nuts. Usually Vitamin B-12 is synthesized by bacteria found in animals, so B-12 is found in sources such as seafood, beef, poultry, eggs and milk or other dairy products. For people following strictly vegetarian diet, they might have Vitamin b12 deficiency and these pills seems to be a good fit for them. Also, while reading up on these pills I came across some interesting information on several web-sites about these vitamins and why are they named so. WHY IS VITAMIN B NAMED SO Vitamin B has an interesting history. In the 19th and early 20th century scientists were looking into a disease called beriberi (whose symptoms included weakness and loss of feeling in the feet and legs, edema of the trunk, difficulty in breathing etc.) Several researchers had observed that this disease was related to rice diet. It wasnt until Adolphe Vorderman (a medical inspector for prison) noticed that prisoners who had a diet of mostly brown rice had significantly less cases of beriberi than the prisoners who had diet of mostly white rice. After this several scientists were trying to separate the compound in brown rice that was responsible for preventing beriberi. A polish scientist named Casimir Funk claimed to have separated that compound and named it vitamine by combining vital amines (because it contained an amino group.) Though it was realized later that he was not completely successful in isolating the active compound from rice.It was American biochemist Elmer McCollum who was successful in doing that. Since they did not understood the complete chemical composition of the compound yet, so compound was give a generic name factor B. He had also named another compound he had discovered as factor A. However, scientific community needed a batter names than water soluble factor B (or fat-soluble factor A) so they adapted Funks nomenclature and naming them as Vitamin A, Vitamin B. The e at the end of vitamine was removed because not all compound contained animo groups and one of the rules of nomenclature mentioned naming a neutral substance of undefined composition ending in in. So the name Vitamin was adopted by scientific community and most of the new compounds were named similarly e.g. Vitamin C, Vitamin D until their complete chemical composition could be determined (some exception exists such as Vitamin K which was derived from German word Koagulation (coagulation) since this compound was a prerequisite for blood coagulation) Though even after determining the complete chemical composition of Vitamins, we still call them as Vitamin because it is easier to remember them instead of the chemical term. WHY IS VITAMIN B12 NAMED SO After further research it was found that what was earlier thought to be single vitamin was in-fact chemically distinct compounds that occurred in the food together. All these compounds were given numbers e.g. Vitamin B9 is folic acid. Vitamin B12 is a compound that contains the essential mineral cobalt. There were several Vitamin B discovered, however it was late found that only few of the Vitamin Bs are actual vital: Vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, and B12. Supplements that contain all these are sold as Vitamin B complex. WHAT IS METHYL B12 Vitamin B12 is also called cobalamin, which refers to compound that have cobal ion in the middle. Depending upon to which component cobalt is attached to it is named differently (Cyanocobalamin, Hydroxocobalamin, Adenosylcobalamin, and Methylcobalamin) Methylcobalamin contains cobalt joined with Methyl IS METHYL B12 SPECIAL The bottle mentions that Methyl B12 is superior form of B12. I am not sure of if the body gets more benefits from this form of B12, but Adenosylcobalamin, and Methylcobalamin are the forms of B12 that naturally occur in the body. So the body doesnt have to covert this form of vitamin B12 and can be absorbed easily.

the information ive read about sublingual B12 came down to two key points: 1. Methyl-B12 is the form you want for absorption 2. it needs to be dissolving in your mouth for 45 to 90 minutes i was using some tiny B12 pills and couldnt get more than 30 minutes out of them. these are larger, probably a little larger than an aspirin but not so large as to make them hard to use. i put them between my upper lip and gum because under the tongue is not comfortable for me. they are taking around 2 hours to dissolve. thats a little long, but ill take it. i expect that it would be about 1 hour under the tongue for me. pleasant subtle lemon flavor and slightly sweet. not exactly sure what makes them a lozenge vs. a pill. i guess its the fact that they are intended to dissolve in the mouth vs. swallowing them.

I had been taking Methyl B-12 in different forms as I am B-12 deficient. I had tried a number of brands, but when my blood work was done, it would show that I am still deficient. My doctor told me to double the amount I was taking which was in a B complex I was using. So I had to purchase just the B-12 to take along with the B Complex pill. Anyway, I decided to try this brand and go back to one that dissolves in the mouth. I look forward every morning to taking this B-12 as I can make it through the day much better than before. The lemon flavor is mild. I do wish the tablets were smaller, but as long as it helps my energy level, I am content. None of the other brands I have tried made any difference in my energy level but this one.

I have both ADHD and anxiety. Yikes! Ive known for a long time that B vitamins have a positive impact on anxiety, but it just never really worked that well for me personally. I generally manage my anxiety with meditation, yoga, breathing techniques, and the occasional Xanax. But then I read an article about natural treatments for anxiety - I wish I could find it now - and it included mention of Methylcobalamin and Folinic Acid as options to improve brain function and help with anxiety and ADHD. Hm. Worth a try. So I ordered both on Amazon (this is the folinic acid I bought:

Lemon does not really taste like anything but chalk. I would not call this a lozenge either - it won’t dissolve under the tongue. I tried it because the one I have ordered for years was unavailable. It’s okay.

I think a higher dosage might be more noticeable for me, but that said, this gives me a pretty decent boost in energy, at best. Easy to chew, and the flavor is ok. Some days, I have issues with energy, so this is helpful to me, when those days come and go. No noticeable side-effects. Once I run out, Ill look into a slightly higher dosage, to hopefully see more effects. Otherwise, a pretty solid product.

This isnt the kind of product you can easily do an instant review on, as it takes MONTHS or even years to see any kind of results. Lacking more information all I can say is I have taken it for like a week. Not making me sick. All I got. Cannot rate Absorbency because WHAT THE HELL? Cannot rate value for money because I dont even know if it is working.

The product is fine...my family and i have been using for quite awhile. But im irked that Amazon raises its prices like this. 4 months ago i purchased 3 bottles at $5.56/bottle. Now, one bottle is $9.44! I guess this is how Bezos is managing to fly into space. :(

Has a nice flavor. Takes a while to dissolve under the tongue but you can chew it up a little first to make it go faster. Cant say I experienced any miracles, but I think it did help with a mild boost in mood, energy, and mental clarity. Might be worth a shot if you arent getting enough b12 in your diet or other supplements, especially if you have problems with anxiety and/or depression.

There is a lot to say here but I will try to keep this brief. * Order process: Product ordered, received on time, condition good, etc. etc. Everything fine there. * Why I tried it: Information concerning the; advantages of Methyl form of B12 over other forms; the advantages of the sub-lingual form over others; symptoms that can result from lack of B12; the bodys reduced ability to absorb B12 with age; are all available on the internet already. I wont bother repeating that stuff here. Im getting old enough (60s) that age related reduced absorption could start to become an issue. Wanted to try a sub-lingual form of supplement to see if it would improve my insomnia (B12 required for generation of melatonin), reduced ability of muscles to recover after strenuous exercise (B12 required for cell repair), and maybe other little issues that I had attributed to normal aging. * Dose: I started taking one of these a day. I place it under my tongue and let it slowly dissolve there. I think that others that complain that it doesnt dissolve fast enough and are chewing it are defeating the effectiveness of the supplement. For absorption through mucus membranes percent of absorption will be directly related to length of exposure. You want to try to keep it there as long as possible. (For me its usually almost an hour.) * Results: After a week or so I noticed that I seemed to be sleeping better. I actually started to have dreams; havent done that in almost a decade. Also noticed improvement in muscle recovery after exercise; they dont stay sore for a week or more like they used to. * Other unexpected results: My distance vision seems to have improved. I can read the fine print on the HD TV without my glasses. Couldnt do that before. The spider veins on my legs, that have been developing for the last several years, are going away. First noticed this after a couple of weeks of taking the supplement but didnt believe it. After 4 weeks, defiantly something happening. They change from dark blue/purple to magenta to red to pink and then fade away to the point where they are no longer visible. Its been a couple of months now and I would estimate, at this point, that they are about 70% gone. (My wife started taking this stuff shortly after I did; she is seeing the same improvement.) It seems that my facial hair, which was all gray, seems to be getting darker; some of the normal color is coming back. If I dont shave for a few days it shows more than it used to. * Other changes that could contribute to results: Have only made one other change in diet/lifestyle prior to starting this supplement. Two months before starting the B12 I looked at our sodium intake in response to a different condition that my wife has; found that it was quite high. As a result we reduced our dietary sodium intake by a lot. I did not notice the changes mentioned above until after we started taking the B12 but the reduced sodium intake could be a contributing factor to the improvements.
