Easy set up, mostly reliable. Doesnt like to stay connected to Google, so I have to set it up again every few weeks.

This is my third purchase and I am definitely fascinated, especially with a puppy at home if we are late the light is turned on directly from the app. We have located in the balcony, each beds side, dining room and kids room. The only problem is that my husband downloaded the app (hes more technological than me) but the Amazon/Alexa account is under my name (Im in charge of the purchases haha) and they dont work correctly, I tried to download the app to also have access and I couldnt because it kept downloading and how I configured the Alexas with my account my husband was left out and now they no longer work through it so we do it from the app. Apart from that are magnificent ..

I really like this wifi plug, because it makes any non smart appliance smart, the button on side is really cool because if you lose internet you still have a way to trun on your appliance without having to unplug it, the only Im complaining about is the wifi signal, it is very strong inside the house, but as soon as I go outside, the connection is very very slow bit sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. Other than that I recommend this smart plug 98%

I installed the first of these yesterday to turn my Christmas lights on and off on a timer. I have other alexa plugs and smart bulbs, so Im familiar with the process. - This is the first one Ive had to connect to the devices wifi to get set up to finish. - There was a message that confused me about my ios settings having to allow the app to search wifi networks, but I didnt actually need it in the end. - I still havent figured out how to connect it to Alexa to be able to voice command the lights on and off - after about 20 minutes yesterday I ran out of time. So, allow some time for set up - Im not saying alexa connection isnt possible, but between downloading the app, connecting to the wifi through the plug, etc.etc., there were too many steps that I had time for. I do like that I was able to set up a timer/schedule within the kasa app, so thats where I stopped for now.

After a couple tries, I got these HS103 smart plugs connected on the Kasa app (lose 1 star on install). Then I was able to connect each plug to my Google Home account. Now I (and my wife) have on/off buttons for each smart plug on our Google Home apps. Slight bummer is that automation (auto on/ off by time) has to be programmed from Kasa app, not google home. so lose 1 star for integration. Although Google Home integration could be better, overall, it meets my minimum requirements. Anyone w my Google Home can turn each outlet on / off independently.

Ive been holding out on buying smartplugs due to their need to be on a 2.4Ghz network. I had no desire in segmenting my mesh network into 2 bands. I prefer to roam my property with my cellphone/laptop and let it correctly choose the band that is needed for optimal connectivity. Before purchasing, I noticed reviews stating that these plugs worked seamlessly with Orbi mesh products. I bought a 3 pack of these plugs and had all three connected and working within 15 minutes or less. Easy peasy! That is what I want in home automation. I would buy more of the TP/Kasa line of products based on this initial experience.

Heres an unconventional use of this product that can save you a few bucks: my hot water recirculation pumps built-in mechanical timer broke. Maybe it could be repaired, but for a few bucks this smart plug works even better. The pump is turned to always on, and I set a schedule in the Kasa app so it only runs exactly when needed. Also if Im off my usual schedule, I can turn on the pump from the app and set a timer for it to turn off automatically in 10 minutes. If youre buying a hot water recirculation pump, you can buy a model with a timer, or save ~$50 buying a model without a timer and use this smart plug which works better for less.

Pretty straightforward and painless setup, even easier after setting up the first one. I ordered six of these so I could automate my entire game room… no longer will I have to unplug anything or switch off power strips. No issues linking to the home wifi or updating firmware, remote control from app works great. Will update if they start having issues.
