> 3 dayFeels like buying a disposable electronic device. Its impossible to reset when you move. Instructions say you have to rename the new wifi & password to the same as the old network. Still doesnt work. Otherwise, great device while it lasted. Easy to control through the app, love the sunrise-sunset setting, and no need for an alexa/siri hub.

> 3 dayI realize Kasa TP Link are rated extremely high and quality, but I got a bunch of the Gosund smart plugs and they are smaller and work equally as well as far as I can tell. I literally have like 13 of them. I guess I dont understand why these are larger and more expensive. But they work well

> 3 dayI had some difficulty setting up the smart plugs. After several attempts I called customer support. The person that helped me, Hanson, was very knowledgeable and patient. We were able to resolve the issue and get my smart plugs working. I would suggest adding some clarity to the installation instructions to make it easier to set up.

Greater than one weekThe lights in my bedroom turn on at a set time a few minutes before my alarm. One voice line turns them off when I go to bed. Getting a drink of water at 2am? One voice line will turn the light on in the hallway. These things are affordable and the set-up takes like five minutes. Everything I asked for with zero problems.

Greater than one weekI have 2 AUKEY smart switches, which are no longer sold on Amazon. So when I needed 2 more I tried these. They set up fine & initially worked as programmed. Until, that is, we experienced a power outage, which lasted a mere 15 seconds, after which they both failed to run the schedule. They still worked remotely by manually touching the power button on my iPad. But the schedule showed “connection failure.” Both my AUKEY switches were still working fine. However since I have run into this issue with the AUKEY switches in the past with power outages, I tried unplugging both switches then plugging them back in. This fixed the problem & both were immediately back up & running. But really, this should not be happening with a brief power outage, hence I am deducting a star.

> 3 dayI LOVE this brand!!! Ive given all the other kooky brands away to neighbors and bought all Kasa plugs and bulbs. I got one as a gift 6 years ago and love it. It still works, btw... Im a little behind the times and JUST started changing everything over to wifi. The first bulb I set up took about 5 minutes but everything after that was super quick. The Kasa app is super user friendly, which we appreciate because were old, and now our lives are so much easier. Crazy how something that once seemed so frivilous is now such a huge part of my everyday life. haha I no longer need to search for light switches or get out of bed because I forgot to turn off the wax burner or the spa lights. HIGHLY recommend Kasa!!! If I can set this stuff easily, ANYONE can do it!! Also, its fun to think of Alexa as my personal assistant. haha

> 3 dayI got these about a year ago and only tried to set them up now. These plugs have a minor weird caveat. They may come shipped with outdated firmware - at least if you get one from last year. Because of this, you will have problems connecting these to your network. These smartplugs require your 2.4 Ghz band of your router, which all routers have. Additionally, the big caveat to these HS103s is that they require you to TEMPORARILY turn on WPA Personal. WPA Personal is no longer recommended for use in home networks because theyre easy to break into, just like WEP is. WPA2 is considered the bare minimum nowadays for security. However, these plugs, for whatever reason, cant connect to a WPA2 or higher network, even the app tells you not to set it to WPA3 (which some newer routers support). You will have to set your 2.4 Ghz network security to WPA Personal (or WPA-1) and the algorithm to TKIP/AES. If you do this, the plugs will connect fine. And luckily, once you get these plugs added to your network account, they will immediately start downloading the latest firmware. The update process takes less than a minute each plug, and after the firmware update they will have 100% compatibility with your WPA2 network. Its best if you bought a 2 or 4 pack of these to set them up all at once so you can get the firmware on them updated and youll only have to set your network to WPA-1 ONCE. After the firmware is updated you can always reset the settings for future use since its the firmware thats the most important part of these plugs. The HS105s you can buy here or at Best Buy already come with the necessary firmware and are capable of handling 15 Amps. The HS103s look practically the same as the HS105s (slightly smaller) but can only handle 10 Amps. However there are slightly cheaper EP10s floating around that can handle 15 Amps as well and look almost the same as the 103 and 105 and can be bought in a 4 pack for much cheaper. Keep an eye on the models you can buy - there are several different ones that have very similar features. The lower amp models are cheaper and are generally handy for simple things like desk fans, lights, etc. but if youre using these to power something that uses more amps, you may want to look for the models that support higher amperage. The featureset of all these different yet similar looking models are exactly the same. The Kasa app is really well made, great and clean interface and easy to navigate.
