Being the first time I have used this I didnt know what to expect. Was it going to be hard to install? Would I hear a sound improvement? I was watching videos of people installing it and they said to let it heat up in the sun. There is a point when it gets a bit to hot and it flops around and is super sticky. I was putting this in the door panels of a 2019 Honda Civic 2dr. Not a lot of room to work with and it wants to stick to every little thing it touches. Not a bad thing but just takes more care to get it in there. I did the bottom 2/3 of the doors. Now when you tap on the doors its just a thud. Overall sound from the stereo was improved. The low notes are now MUCH cleaner! The bass guitar sounds like a bass guitar and not just some humming low note. Same goes for the bass drum. Much more defined and musical. I cant say anything about noise reduction from outside the car yet because I just havent driven the car enough. So for under $50 its worth it in my opinion.

Super easy to install! I just cut up the material a bit and applied it with one of the cheap sound deadener rollers that are on Amazon. The noise level went down significantly with only about 30 percent coverage on some of the van panels. Previously, the sound had been so bad, that my husband and I could not hear each other talk even when we were yelling, and I felt like my dental fillings might fall out from the vibrations. After applying the sound deadener, I took a day trip a few states away, and I actually forgot to listen and check on the noise level, because the noise level had reduced so much. I recently replaced a door on my van, and because that door doesnt have sound deadener, you can now hear a lot of rattling but only from that door. Have to get the roller and sound deadener out again.

Bought 2 boxes for a total of 72 sq.ft. Used professional installation service to install the material on all four doors, trunk lid, hood. I installed the remaining material in the trunk myself. Very little change observed on my 2013 Toyota Corolla LE. The installation shop mentioned that the material is too thin, and that they would not recommend it to anyone. For floors and firewall, I decided to use Dynamat Extreme/Hushmat/Soundskins Pro. You get what you pay for. If you really want proper sound deadening, use thicker, highly quality materials. Edit : I installed Soundskins Pro on my floor (including wheel wells) + firewall, and that deadened some of the road noise. Its much more expensive than Kilmat, but it also has acoustic foam in addition to butyl rubber. If you are cost conscious, you could do Kilmat + some closed cell foam insulation like Noico Liner or Siless 157 mil foam (I ordered Siless foam and will be adding it to my doors + trunk + trunk lid to supplement the Kilmat) Edit : Changing from 2 to 4 stars. I recently learnt that just adding butyl layer alone will not get rid of road noise, but will help in dealing with rattles. Most new cars dont rattle noticeably when compared with older trucks/pickups/cars. So, if you install just the butyl layer on the new cars, you probably will be very disappointed even with dynamat/hushmat etc. Adding closed cell foam layer will largely reduce road noise and harshness. I added 15 sq. ft of Siless sound deadening foam to 2 front doors and under hood(also look at Noico liner. If your budget is higher you can get the Second Skins Luxury liner Pro). That alone has dramatically changed how the car feels. I plan to add the foam to the other 2 doors, trunk lid and the trunk sides. I am quite confident that the addition should kill off a lot of road noise for me. A more expensive option, but easier to install option is to go for combination sheets like the SoundSkins Pro that includes both the foam and butyl layer on the same sheet (I got those professionally installed on my floor + firewall)

This product is easy to use. Extremely sticky, great adhesion. The bumpy pattern realy helps to let you know where youve rolled it out.

I have been in the miserable world of custom cars for over 25 years. i only found a couple honest knowledgeable reviews. I doubt this qualifies as knowledgeable but, I do have some feedback. Does it work? Yes, it does function as sound deadener fairly well. For what you pay this is pretty good. Is it Roadkill or Dynamat ? Nope, that in my opinion is another class of product. I used this on a 77 Toyota land cruiser that has a total budget for upgrades and has a must have list. To cover the same square footage would have been nearly double the money in my preferred brand. I sat down and read the reviews on Amazon and a few other sites. After I hadthe cargo area done I was overall happy with the purchase and continued to finish out the entire vehicle. The first big difference is the adhesion. It is noticeably less than a name brand and requires a bit more surface prep and cleaning to get the maximum sound deadening. That is one of the biggest mistakes you can make with any brand sound deadening product is to not get it stuck to the surface with as few and as small of an air gap as possible. Getting this to stick in all the little cracks without some release takes a bit more work. Is it as dense as a name brand ? Nope again. It is about 80-85% as dense as a name brand . You can hear it after it is applied and feel it when it comes out of the box in weight. The weight is a bonus as it is lighter and i would use it again in a hot rod or go fast project where you were trying to bring down sound while not trying to turn the vehicle into a brick. i did not have a way to compare the heat loss from the application against another brand at the time of this review. I would suspect it to be about the same in that aspect as well in being well sufficient but, not quite as good as a name brand. It does seem like I am hating on the product but, in fact I am not. i would use it again and will for the price. Overall it is a 3.5-4 star product. If value it on price equal to performance it would easily be 5 stars. I gave t the review and rating I did based from use of top tier brands compared to this product. If you are looking for the maximum sound control and heat loss buy a name brand and apply it properly but, have deep pockets. For a budget minded person looking for significant results and still have some money for other parts of your project buy with confidence. I will reiterate This product does take a little more elbow grease to get proper adhesion, buy a good set of rollers and wedges and make sure it is stuck down. No replacement for good prep and proper installation.

Before purchasing, I researched several manufacturers of Sound Deadening material. I drive a truck with off-road tires and enjoy quality sound from my radio without road noise interference. All of the leading manufacturers of sound deadening material use butyl rubber in various thicknesses. I bought the .80 ml thickness from Kilmat because of the positive reviews and the price. I installed the Kilmat material in all four doors and on the back firewall. While I don’t have a decibel meter to provide firm data, the decrease in road and tire noise after installation was noticeable and, in fact, I would say surprising and significant. I definitely enjoy driving on the highway more in a quiet vehicle. My guess is that it decreased road noise level by 30% or perhaps more. The key is to buy enough material to line the “inside” metal skin of your “outer” door as shown in the photos. In summary, the purchase was well worth the effort and cost.
