Klein Tools CL800 Digital Clamp Meter, Autoranging TRMS, AC/DC Volt/Current, LoZ, Continuity, Frequency, Capacitance, NCVT, Temp, More 1000V

Pros:

I didnt use my CL800 for several months after I received it, and when I went to use it, a solid tone occurs when I put it in the Voltage selection. I can clear the tone by changing to a different option, but as soon as I touch a button the tone starts again. In the past month, Ive contacted Klein Tools tech support 5 times to remedy the problem. Each time I was promised someone was going to call me back, and that never happened until today. Chuck, the tech support guy for the CL800 continuously talked over me and tried to explain the concept of Amazon vendors, which I needed no explanation of. He was very condescending and probably has no business communicating with the general public. He tried to blame the problem on me even though I explained it was like this out of the box. Finally, he had Kathy (Cathy?) call me back from customer service. She informed me that Amazon is not an authorized vendor for the their products, but they stand behind their products, so they would do me a favor and honor the warranty with my Amazon invoice. Now, Ive got to ship the tool (at my expense) back to the company, and at some point (she couldnt provide an estimate of how long), theyll send a new meter to back to me at no charge. Ive bought several Klein products in the past, but Ive never had to deal with their tech/customer support. After the experience Ive had with this company, Ill never buy another one of their products again.

i am an automotive tech and this tool comes in handy when trying to wire in circuits . easy to use

Shows amps, nice clamp, got peak reading ok. Does way more than Ive learned about so far.

I bought this meter specifically for the amp clamp feature and unfortunately the meter I received did not have a functioning amp clamp. I have seen a couple other reviews about the amp clamp giving inaccurate readings and not working at all. Also if you are like me and wait a few months before trying the amp clamp feature, good luck dealing with Klein Tools’ warranty service which takes 2-4 weeks just to respond to you after you submit a warranty request. Overall the rest of the meter works fine but the main feature is broken so I am giving it a very low rating. If I could go back I would have just spent the extra money and gone with a Fluke.

If I had any issue with it, it would be the leads have plastic on the ends, making it hard to measure an outlet for voltage. I assume they carry other leads, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 3.

Very straight forward multi meter ....... Good quality, very accurate. In my opinion, this is an excellent meter and it has become my go to tool ...... the more expensive Fl$$e does not seem to be as sturdy and it has been delighted to the truck tool box!

I work in the electrical installations industry, and my workplace varies from an organized electrical room, to the middle of the jungle, so I am able to put to the test this instrument in extreme conditions, where it surpassed my expectations, My colleagues have Fluke instruments as it is the Default choice for my company, but I decided to buy the CL800 for myself, because of the price and reviews, and i am certainly not disappointed, even my exceptical colleagues now consider buying one of these for themselves.

I wanted a meter to check dead batteries. My husband wanted a comprehensive multi-meter. This fills all our needs. Its heavy duty, has a protective case and is straight-forward to use.
