Nice product but maybe I was over expecting a better way to test wires.

I bought this tool for a electrical issues, I know it’s designed for data but I can told you it works great for electrical problems too, you just need to make sure that wires are not hot when using the tool.

You simply cannot go wrong with Klein Tools. I have almost everything Klein so I may be biased a bit but I do not need to talk up this product for it to be a quality one. Accurate readings, multiple tone frequencies and great range on the wand has saved me many a headache in someone’s attic trying to trace a wire that, yes, was underneath some spray foam insulation that ran the entire length of the house. This is a must have for my tool kit.

I wanted to finally trace out the circuits of my house with something easier than a socket tester. I was hoping that I could turn off one breaker; hook the signal to that wire at the circuit breaker; and then find the signal at the various wall switches and wall sockets. Forget it... the cross-talk from all of the 60 Hz in the breaker box swamped the devices signal. I just got buzzing everywhere. Impossible to distinguish the signal from the buzzing. I think Id have to turn off ALL breakers to make this work... I didnt want to do that.

Good value for the price. Nice solid tone on long runs.

This unit will only trace out open ended wires. if youre trying to trace something connected it will not give a signal. But other than that its a nice unit.

Excellent price for Klein tools. This tone and probe set is excellent, has different tones, extra tests to prove the pairs you are searching, the probe is solid and good quality.

If using jack you will never find your cable. The tone produced is quiet and continuous but can only be heard when you’re within 2 inches of the pack making the tone.
