I had a set of kwikset door locks for over 15 years and the bottom started to jam up recently so I looked around and saw you can now use your existing keys with these locks which is a huge bonus, they’re great locks and will do exactly what they’re supposed Even decided to get a keyless one for the deadbolt if you have had Kwikset locks in the past you can’t go wrong with these. No more making new keys! I’ll update in the future if I have any problems

I like these locks because 1) they are sturdy and 2) they are simple to rekey for contractors, in-laws, renters, etc. They are also simple to install except for the deadbolt plate, which Ive only successfully retrofitted into a small percentage of my replacements (that plate is bigger than most and so the notch and screwholes rarely line up without a new screw half in an old hole - I end up just using the existing deadbolt plate, which is slightly less secure but not worthy of a lost star). It does lose a star for me by providing identical keys for multiple locksets I purchased (I wouldnt have realized this had I not bought several at one time). I wouldnt use the key that comes with the lock for this reason, except maybe to rekey a lock temporarily for a contractor, guest, etc. The only other downside to this lock is if you mess up the re-keying. You have to either have a reset tool or take it to Lowes or similar store (and for me that has to be when the one old guy who knows how to use the re-keying tool is there so its a big hassle).

They fit the door great and i like the look of them. Was easy to install, the directions were good. The smart lock feature is so nice. Now all my locks are the same key. Pay attention to the directions when you use the smart lock to rekey. They came with 2 keys but it sure would be nice if they shipped 4. Oh well, getting extras cut at the hardware store wasnt too expensive.

Great lock system. My husband and I are remodeling our home and the search for locking systems seemed endless - who knew it would be some difficult to agree on a lock!?!? Any way....we went back and forth between several different brands (Schlage, Kwikset, Yale, Brinks, etc...) and ultimately decided on the Kwikset. Our decision was based on the style, durability (we really put these things to the test at the store), ease of use (was the handle comfortable, did the keys work easily, did duplicates work easily, etc), availability (at stores/online and the parts for changing over interior and exterior doors), and finish type. There are a lot of comparable lock sets out there, but this felt and acted much more heavy duty than the others we liked in this style. It was between this set and a similar Schlage set. This set won for 2 reasons - (1) we liked the handles better, on the doors and the front door set and (2) the SmartKey system. We have 4 exterior doors to our home, so we thought the SmartKey would be ideal. System works great, easy to use handle, and the door closes snug every time. Tips about this set - our first install was on a basement door. We replaced an original wooden door with a new fiberglass door. Love the entire set up and the new lock set looked great, but the handle was absolutely freezing to the touch. We ended up taking the lock set off and cutting a piece of foam insulation to fit behind. Problem solved! It didnt impact the usage of the lock or handle and cut down on the cold handle/cold air leaking through.

We bought a new house and wanted to change all the locks—we have FIVE exterior doors (all with deadbolts) and wanted the convenience of using ONE single key for all of them without calling a locksmith. We also wanted to change out old brass locks/knobs/levers with a more modern look. This was the PERFECT solution. First, I purchased an inexpensive but good quality set of 4 locking knobs with 4 deadbolts on Amazon—all keyed the same with a key compatible with Kwikset. I used those on the basement, balcony, and garage doors (with one extra left over). Then, I purchased a Smartkey handle-set with matching deadbolt for the front door and keyed that to match the 4 set combo. Then, I purchased this Smartkey set for the patio french door and also keyed that to match the 4 set combo and the front door. YAY! All doors in the entire house use ONE single key. The price for this deadbolt entry lever set on Amazon was an unbelievable $17 LESS EXPENSIVE than in our local big-box DIY store. It was very easy to install this, and very easy to key it. I simply followed the instructions in the package. It also works exactly the same as the Smartkey handle-set on our front door. Remember to keep the Smartkey pin in case you need to ever re-key the lock again. I think that that feature is VERY handy in case you ever feel a need to change your locks. You can do it yourself at no cost. All you need is whatever new key that you want to use. Overall, I love this product!!! If my review was helpful, please let Amazon know by clicking “helpful”. Thanks.

Overall, this was the easiest install to replace a door knob and deadbolt. I am 68 years old and was hesitant due to the original ones being over 15 years and hoping the new ones would fit properly. The hardware had components that were adjustable to fit different size holes. Took less than an hour to remove and replace the knob and deadbolt. They look great. Highly recommended.

I replaced an existing deadbolt/knob with this Kwikset product. Installation was very easy. Everything is included and the instructions are clear (mostly diagrams). If a part needed to point up, there was an arrow and the word UP imprinted inside the part. Nice touch for those of us who dont install these very often. The only modification I had to make to my door jam was to make it a bit larger for the deadbolt. That took about 5 minutes with a small wood chisel but you can probably use a large flat head screwdriver. I appreciated the really long screws that were included for the deadbolt to make it more difficult for a thief to break in. Unlike some other knob sets Ive seen this one has hidden screws. It takes you a few minutes to realize that you have to take the inside knob apart to get to the screws - there is a diagram showing you how to remove the knob with the included allen wrench and how to snap the cover off but my brain didnt process it at first. Re-keying this was very easy. Im not sure why some others have had a problem. I rekeyed the deadbolt and the knob on the first attempt and both work fine. And, last but not least, the new deadbolt/knob look terrific!

First time changing out my own locks. Very simple process with well written instructions with pictures. I ordered and received 3 sets. The finish on one handle was a bit mottled but not bad enough to return. Overall happy with purchase.

Although the one I bought had to be replaced it was easy to program the key to my house. Well built worth the buy.

Easy enough to install and key! Be CAREFUL of instructions as the picture and keying can screw up the lock. IF the lock does not align EXACTLY as the picture shows, go SLOW and MAKE sure you are turning the key the correct way! ONE set of instructions when putting the knob on says it doesnt matter which way the lock sits, and it doesnt as LONG as you understand the SMART KEY instructions show to turn a specific way and t HAS to match how the lock is set in.... OR you screw up the lock and keying!
