Leviton DW15A-1BW Decora Smart Wi-Fi Plug-in Outlet, Works with Amazon Alexa, No Hub Required

Already have one leviton light switch so it meant install was even easier for this plug version. Set it up and linked to Alexa within a few minutes!

Leviton nailed it! The instructions and YouTube videos were a big help in getting the new outlet set up. We have a combination of devices here at the house and utilize google home AI, leviton outlets and hue bulbs in some. The price is a lot more palatable than the Hue set up when you add in the need for a bridge. The plug in leviton switches work great for an existing house or rental so you wont have to hire an electrician to install the in-wall switches. The system controls the light operation and on off times perfectly. I highly recommend giving leviton a try if you want to monitor/ control your electrical consumption.

I have to reset the switch to factory settings and reconfigure the WiFi every single day so that I can control this switch from the My Leviton app. The switch stays connected to Levitons cloud for a few hours at best. It completely defeats the purpose of having these things in the first place.

Easiest setup with a device that is WiFi capable yet for me. Took 5 mins max to read instructions and have it fully working. I set it up to a main light in living room and it’s so easy now to turn on/off when I’m already settled on couch or in bed. My family loves that they also have capability to use this also.

After having great success with the new Z-wave+ products from Leviton I decided to try out a wifi plug in outlet and I am happy to say that this device is just as reliable and easy to use as all of my other Leviton products. The biggest stand out feature of this Plug in outlet is the fact that since it operates on Wifi it does not need a Zwave hub (smarthings or Wink) to function. I think this is an amazing option for a lot of people that dont want to invest in getting a home automation hub and want to just use their wifi as the control. Set up was a breeze, followed the simple start guide, got the My Leviton app and was up and running in under 2 minutes. Since this is an appliance control (On/Off) and not a dimming module like the other module Leviton sells, I decided to use this to turn on my coffee maker every morning. Setting a schedule to do this in the My Leviton is SUPER simple. I look forward to having my coffee waiting for me every morning! Lastly, I set up Alexa control for the switch. Like most Alexa skills, you just add it in the smart home section of the app, enter your My Leviton credentials, and you are ready to go. Now whenever I want to turn the switch on or off all I have to do is ask Alexa to turn what I named the switch on or off. Wohoo! Thank you Leviton for making such an easy to use product!

Great module. Doesnt require a controller/hub.

I purchased the plug-in outlet to try out a new (and more affordable) automation system. Ive been a long-time user of Insteon (and X10) devices to control lighting and devices in and around my house, so I have a baseline to compare against. I found this unit very easy to setup on my wireless network and update the firmware using my iPhone and the iOS app. Schedules and activities were equally easy to program and its very responsive to on/off commands from my iOS devices. The ability to schedule an event up to 120 minutes before or after sunrise/sunset is something I cant do now with my Insteon devices. Ive been needing to add more devices to my house, and after trying out this unit, it looks like Ill be transitioning to Leviton. Easy to install/integrate, intuitive to operate, better scheduling flexibility, no hub required and the Leviton plug-in devices are about 20% less than their Insteon counterparts. After my positive experience with the plug-in outlet, I recently replaced an existing manual dimmer switch with the Decora Smart Wi-Fi dimmer switch to control the lights over my fireplace. Installation was easy enough and connecting it to the wifi network was a breeze. Integration with Alexa is impressive and allows me to just tell her Im headed to bed and have the appropriate lights turn off. A great (possibly overlooked) feature in the app is the ability to tell the dimmer what type of bulb(s) it is controlling (incandescent, CFL or LED) providing a more linear relationship between slider position in the app and brightness. Ive also noticed I can dim my LED floods better with this than the previous manual dimmer. The My Leviton app provides better schedule flexibility than the Insteon app as I can command devices to turn on/off not only at sunset/sunrise, but also up to 120 minutes before/after. Plus, I dont need a hub. I was recently on travel and able to quickly and remotely check/control the lights. Ill definitely be replacing more of my switches, dimmer switches and plug-in dimmers with Levitons Smart Decora series.

Product is awesome; allows me to schedule lights in so lights are on when I arrive home from work, manage lights via voice controls through my Amazon Echo, and turn lights on-off remotely when I am traveling. Great job Leviton!

The plug itself seems to have no issues. The issue is with the Leviton App. When I setup the schedule in the app, it would not turn on the lights when it was supposed to. I later determined that if I set the schedule to 6pm, the lights would actually turn on at 7pm, even though my phone time was setup correctly. Called Leviton and support representative has no idea. Was forwarding to his manager to see why it would do that. I even downloaded the latest update, uninstalled and reinstalled all the devices, but no luck.
