I love this monitor, absolutely perfect for me and my needs for consuming content and playing games. Would have rated 5 stars, but Ive had a problem with the display. When I first got it, I noticed immediately there was a dead pixel. Returned it and got a new one in a timely manner so I wasnt very upset, mistakes happen. Recently though, about 7 months after the replacement arrived I noticed another pixel that could no longer display red. I checked the monitor when I first got it so i know it developed over time, but Im a bit frustrated as Ive had 2 much cheaper monitors for 5 years and they both have no dead pixels. Im not sure if Im unlucky or if its a quirk of the panel, either way I wanted to reflect that in this review.

I am coming from a 27” 16x9 Benq gaming monitor and was initially worried about the monitor feeling smaller due to the vertical screen size. Turns out a 35” ultra wide has the exact same vertical screen size as a 27” 16x9, the dimensions I read included the bezel which is smaller on this screen, so I have the same screen height plus a ton of added width. Second I read that the LG doesn’t have very high brightness, but , like with my LG OLED tv, brightness isn’t everything! The picture quality is outstanding and I don’t come even close to max brightness settings on the monitor. I don’t need any more than what it outputs. Third I worried about Gsync, but my computer immediately recognized it and it worked perfectly out of the box with no issues. Finally I was worried about dead pixels or other defects. I have no dead pixels or any other defects, it’s perfect. Super happy so far, will update after I use it for longer. Update 6 months - monitor is beautiful and is working flawlessly. Loving the option to add a ‘crosshair”, works great!

I bought the LG 34GP83A as my first UW monitor a few days ago for $599. I upgraded from a 27 ASUS IPS panel. While I appreciated going from 27 to 34, the difference in gaming with a new 4090/13900K build wasnt worth the investment with another IPS. The poor contrast, vertical haloing, and corner IPS glow with this monitor just didnt feel like a step up. I purchased the AW3423DW for $1299 the day I hooked up my LG - Im never looking back. With Dells 3-year warranty to cover burn-in and defects with a brand new monitor, I felt this to be of better value given my total investment. Even though this monitor is half the cost, the warranty couldnt compete with Dell. Overall, if youre looking to upgrade from a 1080P monitor or perhaps an older display and have a mid-range build, you will be very happy with this monitor. However, for systems with a more expensive investment, you will be highly disappointed in the quality here compared to a QD OLED screen - consider this your bottleneck.

Once calibrated to your particular aesthetic standards, the monitor looks incredible. Games feel so much more immersive with this ultrawide, curved monitor. Images look crisp, clear, and vivid, so much so that during gaming sessions I will spend time just observing the scenery and taking in the environment. There is even a setting to calibrate the darkness of the monitor specifically for shadow quality, which makes horror games more frightening and the overall density and quality of shadows much more realistic. Everything from images to games and movies have more precise and scrupulous detail than my previous ASUS 27 monitor. The stand, however, sucks. I dont care about the absence of swivel ability like others do, but the stand has two legs that protrude too far forward past the monitor. This makes positioning a keyboard and mouse very difficult, such that my keyboard has to be set awkwardly over one of the legs and my mouse hits the other leg occasionally when playing a game. Its more of an annoyance than anything else and since the monitor itself is fantastic, I can put up with it. LG, if youre reading this, please develop a better, more space-saving stand with your next iteration of monitors. Thank you.

The monitor that I am used to and use as a benchmark is a monitor from my MSI63 Stealth gaming laptop. It offers quite a powerful display even though it came out in 2018. Since then I upgraded to the Dell 34in Curved Monitor S3422DW. That was a big leap from my gaming laptop so going back from the dell to my MSI display to this was like discovering fire. The LG UltraGear QHD 34-Inch Curved Gaming Monitor is a top-of-the-line option for gamers seeking a high-quality, immersive gaming experience. The 34-inch curved display provides a wide field of view, making it easy to take in all the action on the screen. Perfect for FPS or 3rd person hack and slash games like Sekiro. The QHD resolution ensures that the images are crisp and clear, with vibrant colors and deep blacks. The monitors fast refresh rate and low input lag make for smooth and responsive gameplay. Gamers will enjoy a seamless experience, with no lag or stuttering. The curved design of the monitor also helps to reduce eye strain during extended gaming sessions. This makes the monitor not only a great gaming monitor but also ideal for work, streaming and other multi-media consumption. The monitor also has a variety of convenient features, such as on-screen control and multiple gaming presets. These options allow for easy customization and optimization of your gaming experience. Gamers can tailor the settings to suit their preferences and game types. Overall, this is a great gaming monitor that offers excellent performance, a host of useful features, and an immersive curved design that makes it a standout choice.

This is a review for the LG 34GP83A. I saved up for months to get an ultrawide curved and Im enamored with the quality that LG has delivered. Shopping for a monitor is a really confusing endeavor - the naming scheme is bonkers, its hard to understand what combination of specifications meet your needs, and theres seemingly no satisfactory quality control. That last point is crucial. Youre spending top dollar on a screen that may have dead pixels, backlight bleed, stuttering, flickering, cracks, chips, or any dozen other imperfections. And some companies wont offer you a replacement because they allot a certain number of factory imperfections. It makes you feel like youre gambling. Its ridiculous. Ill make this as simple as I can for those of you like me who are only looking for a monitor to game on. This monitor runs at 144 Hz at 1440p, which is the current sweet spot for gaming. There are higher resolutions out there, but most games arent optimized to run at this many frames per second at 4k. As someone who has owned a max 60 FPS 1080p monitor for the past decade, the upgrade is tremendous. Games run so beautifully smooth, like nothing youve seen before. Just be sure to enable your monitor because out-of-the-box they dont run at the advertised refresh rate. On Windows 10, go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced Display Settings > Display Adapter Properties and click on the Monitor tab to choose 144 Hz. You also need to use the included display port cable. 21:9 is the aspect ratio which is what defines the ultrawide experience. Most movies are filmed in a 21:9 ratio (hence the black bars). I find it absolutely incredible at immersing me into the game. Not all games are supported at 21:9, in which case youll play with vertical black bars on either side, which is not a problem at all since the game itself still runs beautifully. For games that are supported, though...hoo-boy, I can never go back. I primarily play empire-building and RTS-style games. Games like Total War: Warhammer 2, Age of Empires II, Frostpunk, Civilization V, and XCOM 2 were meant to be played on a screen like this. As soon as you get your monitor make sure to run a dead pixel check using sites like lcdtech.info. NOTE: WIPE YOUR MONITOR WITH A MICROFIBER BEFORE TESTING. I want to let the world know that Im an idiot who thought that three motes of dust were dead pixels. At this price point, there should be no excuse for factory imperfections and you deserve the monitor you paid for. In summary, this monitor makes me happy to come home from work every day. I enthusiastically recommend it.

I read a lot of reviews and a lot of people said the bottom row of pixels are dead. Theyre not. Move your head down to eye level at that row. Theyre there. The issue is the viewing angles on this monitor. But theyre there. You can still see it at a normal seated level but its dim. Either way, I prefer this to my previous Samsung Odyssey gaming monitor. I have observed 0 pixel smear. I truly believe the Samsung brand upcharge is purely so they can market an inferior product.

Contrast and vibrancy is not as good as dell ultrasharp. However it still looks really nice and the price is unbeatable. The height adjustment works out well. I paired it will my 27 inch monitor and they are the same height

Its now been a couple weeks and I really love this monitor. I upgraded from a 4k, 27, 60hz display for better gaming AND productivity. My biggest concern was the dpi drop from 4k, and at 100% scaling, some of the smaller text looked a little jagged and uncomfortable to read.. After bumping scaling to 120% though, I am unable to perceive the difference in text between 4k and this display, which came as a shock as Im used to very fine fonts from various macbook pros and phones. Ultrawide feels like a real upgrade from a standard 27, and Im really glad I went that way instead of 2 monitors. Great for coding, and for having 2 to 3 windows open at the same time. Also super happy with it for gaming related stuff. I play competitive fps (csgo mostly, bit of apex, overwatch, valorant) and was worried that this wouldnt be the way to go but man what an upgrade over a 60hz display. 144hz feels like night and day and theres no going back. Havent tested the overclock yet but since it decreases color quality and that 144 feels plenty for how I play, I might not bother with it. Interestingly enough, I dont find the ultrawide to add anything for most games Ive tested. Sure its nice but I dont find games particularly more immersive the way many reviewers experience. Overall, really great product. Its simple, doesnt have any bells and whistles (like pbp/pip, LED and such), but it delivers on its promises. Scored this one for $600 and it really feels worth it.
