Mitutoyo 050101, Edge Finder, 3/8 Dia. Shank, .200 Dia. Tip

Greater than one weekI bought this edge finder for use in my home/hobby shop and am very happy with it. Ive used it in a collet in a Bridgeport-style knee mill and found it to run true with a very crisp break when touching an edge. Having a smaller 3/8 shank will allow me to use it in the CNC router table as well. One thing I would note, with its small diamerter, the end doesnt kick out quite as far as a 1/2 shank tool, so if vision is a problem, a 1/2 shank might be the way to go.

> 3 dayIt works! It may be their bargain line but it does work well. I would buy this again. It seems well made too. MUCH better than the eBay cheapies from China. Those are not worth the aggravation.

> 3 dayWorks good! Using it for long table setups in the aerospace industry to measure parts on a 565ft table.

> 3 dayYou’re working hard and all of the sudden, you can’t find the edge! You think to yourself, what will I do? Then you remember you got one of these bad boys! So you pull out this bad boy! Slam it in the spindle and find that edge! Man, it’s never been so easy!

Greater than one weekEdge finder works But i would gladly pay the extra $12 and get a starett! Dont get me wrong mitutoyo rocks for almost all measuring tools but for conventional edge finders Starett is literally the only one i will touch. Starett has .0002 repeatedly that is amazing for a edge finder this here mitutoyo hardly gets .0008 which may be good for some but if you are gonna start your setup off already everything else you do will be off by at least that much! It is such a small price to pay for accuracy! I have a $400 Haimer 3d taster and 5 interapids and i still need a conventional edge finder and that is a starett. $25 well spent!!

> 3 dayIll state right off the bat that I am no machinist; Im just a guy who likes to tinker in the Makerspace on the vertical mill. But this little tool is a joy to use and bounces off to the side repeatedly in the same spot and makes finding the center of an object almost too easy. Its great, and I wish I had known about it years ago.
