Mitutoyo 050101, Edge Finder, 3/8 Dia. Shank, .200 Dia. Tip

I mean, Come on, its just an edge finder... But the surface finish and feel of this thing blow away the SPI/Fowler unit I have. I bought this as a backup for the SPI, but will probably relegate that to backup duty instead. Cant go wrong with Mitutoyo! Down side, is I ordered this with two big wrenches. All items shipped in the same box with poor packing. The soft plastic case of this had a few dings, but no harm to the edge finder luckily.

I had never actually used one before nor had I ever even seen one used but am quite impressed how repeatable the accuracy is. Im sure there are better units I could buy but I dont see why.

Works good! Using it for long table setups in the aerospace industry to measure parts on a 565ft table.

This product doesnt seem to be an actual Mitutoyo edge finder, rather it is likely a generic copy. It seems to work but is not as accurate as I had hoped. Its fairly difficult to determine when to stop, and I had been under the misconception that there would be an audible indication as well. If there is an audible indication I cannot hear it over the sound of my milling machine motor (which isnt very loud, to be honest). I will admit that it could be operator error and that I may get better at using it with time.

This may be the lower quality of the Mitutoyo line but this edge finder gives me much greater repeatability than my SPI. I am using it at a max of 700 RPM with outstanding results. Totally Satisfied.

These are great accurate edge finders, and i always want spares because some guys in the shop break these. Great performance, 10/10
