Moen YB2824CH Eva Collection 24-Inch-Towel Bar, 24 Inch, Chrome

This was used in a bathroom remodel. There were other fixtures from the same line used. Looks very nice

These fixtures use a ridiculous mounting system. These are mounted by installing a plastic fitting with a single screw and then snapping the fixture onto the plastic fitting. Im concerned about the durability of the plastic fitting and the ability to find a replacement fitting if/when it fails. All other bathroom fixtures Ive installed have a very simple, almost standard sheet metal bracket that mounts with two screws (vertically oriented). Ive always been able to install these types of brackets using existing drywall anchors. The Moen fixtures can be mounted with a single center screw or two horizontally oriented screws. Why horizontal! This required me to remove the existing drywall anchors, then patch and paint the drywall to mount these fixtures. Really annoying to have to do so much work to use an inferior mount design.

Installed two of these last week in my bathroom. I used a stud finder to make sure one end would be anchored to wood with a wood screw and measured and checked with a level before setting the drywall anchor. An extra set of eyes when deciding on placement was helpful, and an extra hand when using the level is nice, but I would not have had any problem putting them in alone just by following the instructions. They match the rest of our Moen bathroom fixtures nicely and now our towels dry off faster than just hanging them on a hook behind the door.

The brushed nickel finish of these Moen products has a warmer tone than the brilliant brushed nickel on the Kohler faucets I bought for the bathroom. I prefer this finish and will likely replace (again) the faucets. This Moen finish also seems to be the more common one for other brushed nickel products.

Purchased a couple of these towel bars since they were the same line as my faucets. What a mistake! We opened the package and read the vague installation instructions. Were engineers, and often write user instructions so we know how to read and write them. Moen does not. Awful unclear vague confusing installation instructions. So we looked online, oh! Moen has an installation video. The video shows how to install your Moen accessories with this special Moen tool that did not come with the hardware. Because we all want to purchase our hardware, receive it, and THEN discover a special tool is required. It says optional but theres no template (come on, Moen, you couldnt include a paper template??), theres ZERO room for error, the little plastic mounts (yes, PLASTIC!! Gee Moen did that save YOU money??) are not easily adjustable, so trying to install it without their handy tool is asking for disaster. These look nice. The mounts are cheap and will wear out quickly because clearly quality is NOT important to Moen. The towel bars are nice. Too bad the cheap plastic mounts are cheap plastic.

Received them as the delivery date stated. Very nice towel bar with easy to install hardware for them. I did have a problem with one of the ends not wanting to click on. Ended up taking it all off and doing it over. A pain since it damaged the drywall and had to be repaired before I could remount it again. The other ones worked like a charm though. The finish on them is also very nice.

Nice, with good finish. Seems sturdy, my two year old has used some of these fixtures for his climbing/hanging pleasure. They do have a bit of give, but after hanging on them, the give is stable. From another review, her husband was mistaken (maybe not as handy as he claims!) it has the ability to mount direct to the stud, so do not think you need to drill a huge hole in your stud!!

Easy to install, you can use the bolt with anchor provided or use your own screw. The brushed nickel goes well with the other Moen products. This has enough space for a towel that would probably be used to wash your face. Something between a hand towel and a full size towel.

From reading the other reviews, it seems that many of the problems are due to the included anchor (standard expanding metal molly bolt type). Im not a fan of these, because once expanded you basically have to drive them through the wall to remove them. Instead of using these anchors, I did myself a favor: I removed the included anchors from the plastic mount and instead used threaded drywall anchors (EZ Ancor 75lb rating, look like big plastic screws, the top flange is exactly the same size as the recess in the mount, and the screws that come with them fit the hole in the mount perfectly). With these installed in the wall, the mounts screw down nice and tight - solid, absolutely no wiggle or play, no worrying about how many turns you need, and I can unscrew these if I ever want to remove them from the wall in the future. (Even though you technically dont have to, I predrilled holes for the anchors to keep them neat.) Note: the 75lb rating plastic anchor splits when the mounting screw is driven in completely. The EZ Ancor line also includes a metal anchor that, like the older plastic model, doesnt split, and is rated at only 45 lbs. Although better than the molly bolts, the non-splitting threaded anchors dont hold nearly as solidly as the splitting ones.) I had mixed results with the clicking of the ends to the mounts: with the 24-inch models, all audibly (but quietly) clicked. The 18-inch models did not (or didnt click loudly enough for me to hear them - the tabs arent all that big). However, all are very snug fitting, and Im pretty confident that theyll hold up. Make sure that you triple-check your measurements between centers (18 rack has 18 centers, 24 rack has 24 centers) and that you have the tabs on the mounts on the correct side to match the holes in the end pieces. Overall, a pretty solid design (much better than those cheap setscrew, sheetmetal mount racks that they replaced), and they match the Eva faucets as well.
