Used this to replace an older computers CPU fan. I am amazed by how quiet it is, even at higher RPMs. Absolutely worth the extra money.

I used this fan (Noctua NF-R8 redux-1800) to quiet down my aftermarket T-Mobile Gateway Trashcan Lid. It required a 3-pin to USB adapter, but works great under 5v power. I am incredibly impressed with how quiet the fan is in this application. Yes, fan speed is reduced, but I don’t need all that much airflow. I just want to provide a bit of active assist without adding to the ambient noise, otherwise. This fan does that, while promising long life, to boot. That’s a huge win/win for me!
