First - Nortons the best - always has been, I also use Malwarebytes and together they havent missed a thing for many, many years. Now... The claim is that you have to use a valid credit card to activate this and then you can go in and easily deactivate auto-renew. I tried using a Visa gift card - even one with a valid address and they wont accept those so had to use a real one. I dont want auto-renew as I dont want to pay 5 times the price one year from now - if this wasnt a scam then they would not be forcing it upon us. Now comes that easy part where you deactivate auto-renew right away - not gonna happen. The belief is youll just give up and forget about it and get slammed one year from now at a much higher price than you just finished paying today. Who knows, maybe in a year youll actually think, oh, that was nice of them and oh so easy, I didnt have to do anything accept pay a huge bill Stay the course - dont give up, after about 3 on line help sessions those elusive buttons that simply didnt seem to work will be activated for you by someone in India whos never heard of this before - trust me, this is the only thing these fellows have ever heard of. Ill be reading many reviews next year of other anti-virus software if this insane thing is still being force fed by Norton as, in my opinion, this is just about as bad as the viruses you bought it to protect you from.

Unless you give them a credit card number with an outrageously (cancellable) overpriced mandatory renewal, no service for you. The funny thing is then that credit card will remain on file for life and no matter how much you beg them to delete it they wont. After you cancel it, then next year they will charge the card again if you dont cancel it on time. Ive been through that until I canceled my card.

Several things that went in to my 2 star rating: 1 - The software itself is good at catching things. I have no issue with the software! 2 - Norton the company seems to be going all in on making it incredibly difficult for their customers to disable the auto renew settings that they clearly want enabled. They want this enabled so you par twice the amount for their auto renew as you can buy it for on Amazon. When I went to the website to shut it off, they FORCE you to chat with their tech support in order to disable. BEWARE, YOU CANNOT disable the software without doing this ridiculous step, that wasted ten minutes of my time. 3 - Their website is a joke. It barely loads, and you have to refresh a dozen times to get content back to the screen. I have been a customer of Norton for 15 years. I am DONE when this subscription expires.

Installation, easy on Windows. Terrible on MacOS. Credit required, not good. Seems to get all the common computer virus out. Its pretty cheap. Now the bad... holy molly, what happened to this antivirus software? Its an adware!!! every few days, I get some reports where a fix is to buy more subscription. I click on do not show again, and it shows again in a few weeks. I am done with this program. In addition, this software doesnt work well on MacOS. Seems to block everything on MacOS. I gave up and uninstall from MacOS. Think Ill just go with Windows defender and whatever antivirus my ISP provide. This after 30 years with Norton.

9/22 update and new 3 star review - I just wasted an hour screwing around with a logon to a long time financial site on my iPhone due to the Norton VPN. I was at the gym and I activated the VPN (at Nortons urging) and I set it to turn off automatically when using a safe wifi like the one at home. The VPN did NOT turn off automatically and it prevented my logon to the long used financial site. I uninstalled and reinstalled the financial app, restarted my phone and tried a few other tricks. The App would NOT work. Then I remembered the Norton VPN and once I shut it off, the financial app worked fine. The Norton VPN slows data down to a crawl and can cause issues like I just described above - it can be very annoying to use. Original 4 star review - For a new account, this Norton 360 Platinum product key from Amazon is a great deal, no issues or complaints. For $30, it’s awesome and thanks Amazon for the opportunity to get a great deal. I like the Norton password vault, most of the features and functions but there is one part that of the Norton experience that is challenging - adding this key card to an existing account. My review for this key card for a new account is 5 stars but I give it 4 stars overall because as I mentioned, the process for adding this key to an existing account is annoying and can be time consuming and the VPN can be a pain. I’ve had Norton since 2008 and the renewal “game” has become increasingly challenging. Norton wants you to auto renew your existing subscription and then upcharge on the auto renew - by a LOT. In this case, this product key is $30 and the Norton subscription renewal price is $114.99 as of the writing of this review - September, 2022. Norton used to have 2 and 3 year subscriptions. That’s all gone. They also had a far easier way to renew years ago months before the end of the subscription and that was right on the Norton account page. Not anymore. I suspect Norton relies on folks to forget about their auto renewal agreement and they get charged full retail price. There are all sorts of tricks and games required to buy this $30 key card from Amazon and use it as a renewal for an existing Norton subscription renewal. Read the reviews and you will see all manner of approaches to avoid getting hosed by Norton. It can be done but it’s not easy or quick. My process is to go online with the chat folks on the Norton site who will assist you entering this key for a renewal. There is no pricing squabble because you already have the Amazon purchased Norton key in hand - that saves some time. I was very polite with the overseas service folks and very careful not to click on any link too fast even when the service person asked me to click on them. I asked many polite questions along the way and after about 20 minutes, we had it sorted out and my existing subscription got renewed by 12 months with this Amazon purchased key which saved me about $85 over the “auto renew” price. You really don’t have a choice - either buy this key from Amazon for $30 or get “auto-renewed” by Norton for 4 times as much, your choice. Hope that helps! PS - Norton also tried to upsell constantly. They want you pay list for Lifelock, constantly send out fear sales notifications that your account is at risk from the dark web, any and all data incursions worldwide and spammers. Its a constant attempt to grab cash. Be prepared.

a.) You will need Norton tech support to find the downloader (I did not investigate Amazon tech support therefore I cant comment on that) if you purchased a Product Key, as I did. I was unable to discover how to get the Amazon purchase to install/activate without paying again. After going to Norton and finding that the renewal there was the same as Amazon and that Norton tech support (I used Chat) would help, I purchased this product (10 devices), and got tech support to turn off Auto Renew the yearly subscription. Then tech support informed me that turning Auto Renew would provide me with the best discounted renewal, and that I could contact tech support when my sub got close to the expiration date to get the best price and IF I wanted to renew at that price. b.) The new version no longer prominently displays number of days left on your subscription, however the days left are provided on interior Norton screens. c.) By the way, renewing automatically updated all existing devices (7 of 10). Tech support said they would help as needed to add any new devices. Im running win7 and win10.

I will not allow Norton to renew my subscription, they charge almost DOUBLE the cost of just rebuying it! It is annoying I need to do that each year because I have to change the license on each notebook I have it on, but well worth the savings.
