> 3 dayIt seems Norton 14 does not work well with Win XP. I had constant problems with making backups and conflicting with other apps. It is not as easy as the description says. A total waste.

> 3 daygood luck to you if you have windows 10. And worse yet, if your drive is already encrypted with Symantecs Endpoint Encryption (SEE). And even more luck to you if your drive is NTFS. I got Ghost specifically because it was said in a couple symantec pages that Ghost 7.5+ allows you to make a system disk of a SEE drive. And Ghost 11.5+ also lets you unencrypted the backup. Well, 3 hrs after installing, I still cant get the !#@$#^& thing to do a stinkin system backup to a USB drive. Why? Oh, now the documentation I get with this thing, states that it is capable of making a system backup to another drive, but not a Networked or Removable drive. So, I guess they didnt want to say in the Symantec web site that system backups are only for pc with multiple internal drives?!? Dang, they could have said that in their stinkin web pages *before* I bought this stupid thing...

> 3 dayI bought this software thinking it would have more capabilities and functions. Had I not gotten a good deal on it, it would not have been worth purchasing.

> 3 dayOnce upon a time, Ghost was a valued part of the sophisticated computer user or, more appropriately, network administrators toolkit. That was a long time ago before Symantec acquired the product and, in my opinion, pretty much ruined it. The newest version offers the user no features they cannot get in competitive packages, often implemented more effectively. Typical of Symantec products, Ghost 14 is a resource hog and prone to failure - not something you want in a package that supposedly protects you by backing up your files. The interface is poor. Documentation is fair. Performance is okay, but a number of people have complained about restore failures. That is, as you can imagine, one thing you do not want to hear about backup and restore software - that the restore function is problematic or doesnt work. Backup file format seems to be proprietary which is also bothersome. I dont want to be a slave to some publishers proprietary format. On the whole, I am wary of Ghost these days and prefer other products which are equally or better featured, less expensive, have better reputations and seem to be more reliable. Jerry

Greater than one weekIve been a Norton user for more than 10 years and had never experienced any issues other users reported until I came across Ghost 14. I upgraded from Ghost 12 to Ghost 14 six months ago and had been doing a drive backup every two weeks. Recently my laptop was stolen and when I try to do a restore, I found out certain files were missing from the every archive Ghost 14 created!!! During each backup session, Ghost 14 never gave any indication that some files were not backed up. Luckily the missing files were rarely changed and I was able to restore from the last Ghost 12 archive. Because of this, all my Ghost 14 backups made during the past six months are now questionable. Ive no idea what other files Ghost 14 failed to include in the archive.

> 3 dayNorton Ghost takes more than a little knowing before it works and even then it can create problems the likes of which will challenge the most experienced computer user.

> 3 dayI have been using Ghost for years, back to the good old day when it was PowerQuest. Though there are some other application that are much stronger and have more functionality then Ghost. Symantec has let Partition Magic go by the way side, as after XP it not longer is useable. Do your research before purchasing it.

> 3 dayFor the most part it does what its suppose to do. Excellent for maintianing a Back-Up. Particular problem encountered was; this Ghost works within Windows, with something running in the background that we could not identify and shut off, it would not make a good copy we could use when copying a worn out hard drive to a new one. It would copy but not run (tried three times). Solution; Had to find a copy of older Ghost 12 which works outside of windows, it made the copy, worked fine copying the primary disc to new hard drive, worked first time. We then reloaded Ghost 14 to use as a backup program for new Backup hard drive, works well. This may be particular problem for what we had running, but Ghost 12 had no problem.

Greater than one weekNorton Ghost 14.0 was very easy to install and perform a image backup with. I picked Norton Ghost because of years of flawless performance from the product. Many backup programs make back up files, but recovery is some times a mistery. Not with Norton Ghost.
