I bought this because I always seem to need it and never have it. Spark plug installations, bulb replacements on cars and travel trailers, etc. Spark plug wire sets usually come with a small package of the stuff in the box. The auto parts stores do sell the little packs of it at the checkout counter, too, but Im always worried about running out of it when installing 8 cylinders worth of wire set, coil on plug, spark plugs or whatever Im doing. I bought this because I wanted the peace of mind of knowing I had plenty on hand and could use as much as I needed. It is Permatex brand and looks exactly like the product picture. The tube is generously sized; its about the same size as a small tube of toothpaste (not travel sized, the small sizes of toothpaste you buy at the grocery store or pharmacy). I installed 8 coil on plug parts on one of my mustangs tonight. It felt reassuring to use how much dielectric grease I wanted to use on the parts instead of trying to ration out a very small package of the stuff.

This stuff worked fine, but you have to be careful how much you put on. I put on what my spark plug maker recommended, and my car ran rough after that. I took off most of the grease, and my car runs fine now. Get the small one if you’re only doing one or 2 jobs.

The real thing with no additives or stretchers like teflon or petroleum (OK for some uses, but not for many). The good stuff for electrical, high voltage, Brake and Hi-Temp machinery, O-ring lubricant, syringes, pumps, valves, etc. This is a fairly priced commodity used by most industrial businesses and also has many DIY applications. I wrote this review because finding the pure thing on the net can be difficult. Its common to receive mixtures sold as sold as silicone grease that just wont do the job. (you cannot use petroleum around oxidizers, some melt, some contaminate systems or attack some rubber compounds etc) so I decided to make life a bit easier for those of you looking for real silicone grease. (for auto brakes, it isnt critical and there are many good brake lubes out there (I like the Permatex 21425 ceramic stuff in the purple jar), but you can use this for most applications involving heat, aggressive chemicals and electricity. Applications Include: Bulb sockets, connectors, plug wires and boots, hydraulic valve o-rings, use on threads and electrical connectors in the salt/rust belt so your connectors and flare nuts rust more slowly, You can wipe a film on car window gaskets (NOT on the wipers in the door), to keep the windows from freezing shut, put some on the key and work into locks for the same effect, Lubes and protects from corrosion mechanical control cables (wipe on inner cable before installing in sheath), Ive even used it on the closures for high power rocket engines - Dr Rocket and homebrew motors (pure silicone is the only grease safe to use with oxidizers like N2O), and its foodsafe so OK to use for homebrewing equipment valves etc. (the other kind). Anyway, if you need real silicone grease, you know all this. The Dow Corning High Vacuum Grease in the white and green tube is the same stuff, also highly recommended but usually is more expensive. Sorry to run on over grease. Buy it!

Love hate relationship…. I love this stuff as it prevents corrosion on my trailer wiring and other electrical contacts! Fantastic stuff! I hate this product because the cap splits…. I’ve had 2 tubes of this stuff. I don’t reef on the cap, it’s just gently screwed on. It seems to be heat related. I keep it in my vehicle tool box. Today when I took it out the ziplock back was goopy- the cap had split. Same thing happened to the first tube. I wrote to customer service and got no reply… Good product, crappy delivery system

This requires a little thinking before slapping it on. this dielectric is not a conductor, it is actually an insulator. It is silicone and silicone is an insulator that does not dry out but it does smear everywhere easily so you have to be careful where you put it. It is designed to seal out water around the perimeters of rubber boot connectors in other places you dont want water to enter. It is not designed for the electrical pins, or sockets, etc. Google diakectric uses to make sure you understand before using this product. There is a silver based silicon product that is great for conducting electricity and helping out electrical connections if thats really what you need. This is an insulator not a conductor so when used properly its a great product and does what it supposed to do, insulating electrical boots etc free of water. good for using along the side a rubber spark plug boots, but not on the tip or the electricity flows. bottom line: earned five stars! Use of this product is often misunderstood so do a little research first.

I do a lot of my own auto repairs and normally pick up grease for bulbs, brakes, etc., in the little packets near the checkout. I finally decided to just get some tubes of the ones I use most often. I dont normally use dialectic grease, but a friend at work recommended it for a spark plug change I was planning on one of my vehicles. So, instead of just getting the small packets, I went this way as planned. I have always like the Permatex brand and did not hesitate to go that route with this purchase as well. Easy to dispense and store when done. Definitely can recommend this product and plan to use it more often on electrical connections now that I have a larger tube. I also purchased a couple of tubes of their brake grease and its also a very good product. In my mind you cant go wrong with Permatex products. Top shelf stuff.

Used this on a stubborn electrical connection for golf cart charger, seemed to work well.

Way cheaper than local parts stores. Better value than those single use packets.

It is indeed the best grease for a mechanical keyboard. Especially, when using it for lubricating stabilizers. It does improve the performance and typing sound of the keyboard.
