Apparently these switches can get stuck in the closed position if they are installed on a garage door that is seldom opened, which is what happened to the original one. I have another that is still working fine after 16 years (on the garage door that is opened and closed daily).

> 24 hourI used these to create a raspberry pi based garage door alert for when the doors are left open accidentally. So far, so good. I removed the magnetized bar from the bracket and attached it directly to the top edge of the door. Besides the screws and washers holding the bar to the bracket, there are no mounting screws, so youll need some for the receiver and bracket.
