I have been hooked on Seachem Stability for a long time but put it to the test when we moved from Utah to Mississippi. I wanted to setup my 9 aquariums as soon as possible so as soon as this was done I started to Use Stability plus a dose of Seachem Prime every 48 hours. I immediately started stocking the tanks with fish, everything from Flowerhorns to a large variety of Cichlids, Plekos,Severums, Parrot Flowerhorns and Blue Dolphins. I have not had even one loss during the cycling, I believe its critical to use Prime in conjunction with Stability, and I have a Pearl Flowerhorn coming in soon that I will cycle exactly the same in a 55 gallon bowfront that I just set up today. Kudos to Seachem for another great well researched product.

Stability is a great product to help quickly start your cycle. Cycle of a tank goes down to a week unstead if 6-8 weeks. Go slow adding fish still as the cycle is still new. Great product

Bought this because I was having trouble cycling my 3 gallon, heated/filtered betta tank (with him in it), and kept getting high ammonia levels, but no nitrites or nitrates, despite frequent partial water changes. And always ending up with cloudy water (despite using a different brand of water conditioner). I also bought Prime. I like how Stability can be used daily, and with Prime. My only complaint is that its hard to figure out exactly how many drops of Stability to use if you have a smaller tank, without doing tons of internet research. I ended up determining that I needed to use only 1.5 ml initially, then .75 ml for 7 days in my case, to help boost the good bacteria my tank needs in order to break down the ammonia. I use a 1ml syringe, but you could also use an eye dropper you can buy at any dollar store. If you use a dropper, a 3 gallon tank would use 10 drops per gallon initially, then 5 drops per gallon daily for 7 days (if youre in the same predicament as me). Then use it monthly or with each water change. Just be sure to shake the bottle well before use, and add the stability to the filter, not the general tank water. Apparently it works better that way, but Prime can be added to clean water changes OR directly to the tank if needed. Our betta seems to be tolerating both products well, and something has kept the ammonia level controlled finally. He seems to be happier now too, so Im happy. Since using both Seachem Prime and Seachem Stability, my tank is clearer than its EVER been, and I dont know which product is helping with that, but its wonderful!!

My stepson got a 55 gallon tank for christmas, and I had been trying to get it to cycle for some time before he moved his fish into it, using added ammonia. No luck, so the fish were moved over and we used Seachem Prime (another exellent product) and continuous water changes to keep the ammonia levels down. Two weeks and a couple of bacteria products later, we were still getting 2ppm ammonia and 0 nitrites and nitrates. I ended up getting Stability and the same day the ammonia went down to .25ppm and we finally got readings on the nitrites and nitrates. It has worked very well for us. WORD OF CAUTION: If you get this or any other live bacteria product, make sure you do one day shipping (at least if it is summer or winter). The temperature extremes during average shipping can kill off the bacteria, leading to this being as useful as a bottle of water.

I’ve heard that BB starters are a waste of money, but here’s my experience. I started a new tank, fish in, and was pretty religious with the stability and the tank basically cycled in two weeks(I use api master kit to test and record my levels, I had nitrates and the ammonia and nitrites were stabilizing) . I made the mistake of removing the HOB filter and replacing with a sponge filter too soon, I thought the bb was built up enough. Completely crashed my cycle and had to start over. So I thought at this point it would build up on its own pretty fast, wasnt using stability during this time, wasnt even testing, just adding enough prime to make sure the fish were good, finally a week and a half later I test again, nitrites and nitrates are still at zero… Needless to say I’ll be adding stability everyday religiously till I see nitrites come online. Learn from my mistakes. Establishing a tank is such a pain, and in my experience this product does speed up that process.

Foolishly walking through a Walmart fish dept., I made the mistake of checking out their too large stock of forlorn Bettas. One “spoke” to me! I plopped down the $4.97 (or whatever!), for my new finny friend and then made my way to a big box pet store in search of his perfect home. Over $100 later, home we went! So started the saga of setting up an uncycled aquarium. Ammonia problems for weeks, bought the Prime initially, just to damper the ammonia. Then found the Seachem helpline, who held my hand-not REALLY, but almost!-through the next few weeks! They recommended that Stability would likely speed the process by adding the good bacteria. Between phone calls and multiple emails the water finally tested 0ppm for Ammonia yesterday. I can highly recommend the product and ESPECIALLY the members of the support team! Thank you!

Im sure Seachem Stability works well to stabilize and maintain a biofilter as its advertised, but dont believe the hype that it will instantly cycle your biofilter. Sure, it can help get things off the ground by seeding the filter media with bacteria, but dont expect a colony of nitrifying bacteria in 24 hours or something ridiculous. When used with Seachem Prime you could probably reasonably perform a fish-in cycle in 7-10 days, but Im in the camp that believes a fishless cycle with ammonium chloride and live plants is ideal. Having said that I found significantly better results using Fritz TurboStart 700 to kick off my nitrogen cycle. Stability didnt get me any results after a week using their recommended loading dose and maintenance dose. Im somewhat certain it actually gave me a surface biofilm that Ive never experienced before when using it to start a nitrogen cycle. Once the cycle has kicked off, Ive diligently used Stability to maintain my biofilter by adding it with water changes and stocking new animals. Its never given me problems, but its honestly difficult to gauge how well it performs as theres no water test that can be done to see what kind of impact it makes to an already established tank. I suppose if you have a catastrophic crash in your biofilter or perhaps overload it you could measure its before-and-after performance with ammonia and nitrite tests, but thankfully I havent experienced anything like that. Ill continue to use Stability, Prime, and Pristine in maintenance doses as suggested because as far as I know, its working as intended, and making changes to a stable environment is a recipe for disaster. I just havent had luck with it kick-starting the nitrogen cycle. For that Id put my faith in Fritz TurboStart (or FritzZyme)

No more no less it works. Cycled my 75 gal with 1 bottle of Stability & a very small amount of filter media from an established tank. Only took a week and a half, two weeks tops.
