> 3 dayWith the factory installed latches, there was so much wiggle in the hood I would get freaked out every time I was passed by a big truck on the highway or if there was particularly high winds. Hubby did lots of research and found these got great reviews. No I didn’t personally install them, but my husband says they were very easy to install and I can attest to how beautiful and natural they look on the jeep. Now I am not at all concerned about my hood flying up anymore. There are many options out there for accent latches but if you are looking for something that is more natural to factory appearance these are your ticket. They are solid and I am so glad we made this investment

> 3 dayI put these on our 2014 jeep wrangler Jk and they look great! They only thing is the rust that has already occurred during the winter. They’ve been on the jeep for a month or so. Other then the rust they hold up really well. Probably will get another set for the back but I’ll make sure this time to clear coat them first to help with rust.

> 3 dayThis does include a very colorful poster style instruction sheet that has extremely vague instructions. For example, the first instruction is: 1. Factory hood latch is made of plastic remove the factory hood latch. And there is a picture of the hood latch locked in place on a closed hood. It neglects to tell you you have to remove the front grill. And you have to navigate a socket wrench from below the headlamp to squeeze it in between the body panel and engine compartment. Tip that i hope will save someone some time and aggravation: the factory nut is a 1/2 inch and comes off pretty easy once you navigate the socket wrench past the headlamps. But my biggest issue is the hex head screws are extremely weak metal. I had not notice the JK specific gaskets and initially installed using the pre-fitted JL gaskets. I was able to remove one mount but the second mount screw stripped the hex. Of course it is too low clearance to reach in behind so Im stick with a 70% tighten screw that wont come out nor go back in. Wasnt using anything more that a standard socket wrench and the included hex key and yet the screw rounded out. After over an hour trying various method to remove the screw I eventually gave up and just dealt with the passenger side lower mount being slightly loose. I may someday use the screw extractor to get it out but for now it works fine and the JL gasket works well enough. All that being said the mounts are good construction (except the weak screw head mentioned above). The hood latches tightly and no move windblown hood bounces at +55mph. Looks sharp too, just mildly irritating that I cant affix the a proper gasket and tighten it up.

Greater than one weekI ordered another set of latches first that were advertised as black stainless steel. They were plastic. These are all metal and they are made really well. Not disappointed at all.

09-04-2025Not difficult for me to install, but I do have a full garage of tools. If youre tool limited it could present a challenge getting to the lower hinge.

> 3 dayThe only difficult part of installing this involves the lower bracket. That will be the case with any hood latch replacement for a Jeep JK. I installed this on my 2008 Jeep JK Unlimited. Like others, I found the installation required removing the front grille. That is quick and easy to do. Total installation time was less than an hour. They are well made, fit perfectly, and I am impressed with this product.

> 3 dayPurchased these awesome Sparta Latches a few weeks ago and it was a breeze to install, best part was the double bolt fit I only found available from this seller and conveniently on Prime--- Same Day Delivery! I was in a bind to get these latches repaired as I am in process of selling my 2011 Jeep 2D Wrangler ! I was Driving down a 2 Lane highway one day and passed a 18 wheeler about 65 mph, the gust literally blew the stock latch right off, it was 10 years old definitely a little worn out. Sounded like a gunshot through the window and scared the living daylight out of me, so thankful these replacements worked out. I am a 35 year old woman with a socket wrench kit I got at 18 years old, I was able to figure this out and fit my hands behind the grill and corner fender which helped to arrange unassembled the lower original bolts and washer and put on the new ones. Note you have to take apart the actual new bottom clip to tighten on but its a simple instruction and video helped on the page ! Good luck, I love the look of these should have purchased sooner!

Greater than one weekI loved the look of these latches for the price. However, one of the screws that holds the bushing in place came loose, and with it the latch on that side. (Hood flutter). If I could just replace the hex socket screw I would be a happy camper. Next time I will use Loctite. IF not for this nuisance, this would be a 5/5 easily.
