> 3 dayI have been all in on the smarthome since late 2017 when I bought my first connected speaker and just kept going from there. I have been moving everything over to HomeKit since last year and now most of my devices live inside the Home app on iOS and Mac. I believe that it is the best smarthome platform IF you care about privacy and collection of your personal data. If you dont care about that, then HomeKit is probably the worst platform, it has far fewer devices compatible with the ecosystem than Google or Alexa. Not to mention, it has a high cost of entry thanks to Apple products not being very affordable. I had a little trouble connecting this to my main network, its the first devices Ive tried to add to the Home app since my Eeros got the update that gave them support for HomeKit router compatibility. I tried and tried and could not get them to connect. I think this was my fault because I had WPA3 turned on and forgot to enable legacy mode for devices like these plugs that only support the 2.4GHz band. But after turning off WPA3 and putting the Eero Pro 6 routers into the right mode, they connected almost instantly. Since then, they have been working well with no problems using them from inside my home, or when Im out and connecting remotely. This is how HomeKit works, its a little different than Alexa, where your smart speaker calls out to the internet to control devices, regardless of if youre on your home WiFI network or not. I didnt test these plugs with anything except HomeKit, I just dont trust the other smarthome platforms anymore and try not to use them if I can help it. The Home app can really be a pain sometimes, but its designed with security in mind and that sometimes has to trump convenience. One thing to mention, despite these plugs being sold as Refoss brand, in my Home app, they show up as Meross which is another very similar brand with similar products to Refoss. It may be that both are owned by the same company. Great plugs for use with Apple HomeKit, and very affordable considering how much some HomeKit accessories can cost.

> 3 dayIve added 3 of these to HomeKit, only to have them disappear after a couple of days & then not being able to reset them and add them back. In other words, they are less than useless, having an outlet fail for no apparent reason is bad, luckily I was home so I could replace them with a more reputable brand.

> 3 dayThese worked great, until they didn’t. They started working intermittently and then not at all. All the resetting and reconnecting in the world wouldn’t work. Updates, troubleshooting, nothing worked. Avoid these.

> 3 dayI tried multiple processes for connecting the plugs to my IOS devices. I was able to connect twice, then was unable to see the devices afterward. Too much trouble.

> 3 dayIve had these for about a year now and used them with Apple Homekit. (I do not want to create an account with meross so I add and control all smart devices using only Homekit.) They have been a big pain in my bum for the entire time Ive owned them - every month or so Homekit showed no response for the outlet so I would have to remove it and then re-add it, which was super annoying. But at least they worked. Starting after the iOS 16 update, they stopped working at all. I can add them to Homekit and it says added successfully, but then within 15-60 seconds it changes back to no response. I have removed the outlets from the Home app and reset all of the outlets several times, but the same thing keeps happening. It says it adds the device, I can see it in Apple Home, and then within a minute it shows no response and absolutely will not work. I have 6 of these things and they are all just absolutely useless wastes of money now. Im really hoping that once the Matter smart devices get released I will have more luck using smart devices in Homekit. But these are unfortunately going in the trash. :-(

> 3 daySeemed like good value and practical design with the on-device button for manual operation. Setup with Apple Home App was reasonably easy too, but after ~1 year all my 4 devices stopped working - icons updating or not reachable all the time: Apple Home Kit cannot activate the smart plugs anymore. Resetting, readding and configuring does help for minutes only (while in BT range?).
