I work for a cable company and I use these to locate cable outlets. Pretty straight forward and handy tool to have if youre working in the cable field. You can tone four outlets at once which can save you time on a job. They do not tone through splitters though which is only downfall for this product. Other than that they work really well and just keep up with the color ends.

This is the best mapper Ive ever owned. Ive tried them all and found myself repeatedly buying more mappers every year. The one that seemed to most popular was the simple $20* Jonard. The problem with that piece of junk is the batteries dont last a year and eventually you just have to buy a new one because they didnt make it replaceable. This mapper is the answer to that piece of crap. This has equality feel to it with an almost velvet like a grip and a soft button, unlike the Jonard that you have to press very hard and the button itself will hurt your thumb after repeated usage. best of all, you can replace the batteries on this thing over and over.

Ive been using this in the geld for a few weeks now, and it is great. Couldnt give it a full 5 stars as one of the tracer caps pulled apart on its first day and I had to put a dab of blue locktite on it. But other than that its been invaluable for those houses /businesses that seem to have endless coax cables going everywhere.

Easy use, functions as expected and it was less than the retail price. I was able to trace and repair a problem with the coax behind our walls caused by a bad install previously.

So couldnt get it to work when it arrived was going to just return it. However after testing the batteries that came with it surprisingly they were no good. Made trip to store bought 4 new watch batteries & it works as advertised. Nice being able to test for lines without going back and forth. So giving only 3 stars because should not have had to run to store to get batteries before being able to use.

why not use a AAA or AA battery instead of 4 dot batteries...? Youll need your own barrel connector for the cable at each room location. It does do the job for what I needed it for telling me which cable went to what room. But I would not buy this device again nor would I recommend it

I bought the Klein tester a couple years ago and just wasnt satisfied with it. This one by Southwire is a big improvement. The test button is larger and much easier to press. The colored end pieces are the push-on type rather than screw-on which makes them very get on and off wall plates. Probably the most important thing is that the batteries ARE replaceable, unlike the Klein and most other testers. Very good unit.

Does exactly as described. My house has the coax cable in home run configuration. There are 10 or so coax cables in the attic. Put one of the color plugs at one end, then plug in the tester on various coax in the attic until the tester lights up with the color you are looking for.
